Terrell Owens Thread: Hall of Fame?

Congrats to Owens. Well deserved. Glad they won't be delaying the inevitable another year.
Well deserved. But I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little annoyed by his comments this past week.
Undeniable that TO's on the field production merits this honor. He is a controversial character that was his own worst enemy, but is among the greatest to have ever played the position. I wasn't a fan of some of his shenanigans, but what he did for the 49ers, and that he worked so hard to come back from injury to play well in Super Bowl XXXIX earned him a lot of admiration from me. Congratulations to TO for earning his place among the greats.

Congratulations to the 2nd greatest WR of all time. Well deserved and a long time coming.

Again, if you think Garcia didn't buy booze for the girls he was riding with, I'm the Pope.

Holy s**t the pope is on the WZ.

Lol, drawing attention about something negative about your teammate is a dick move. He didn't need to highlight McNabb. He's a coward who indirectly throws teammates under the bus so that his coward nature can, once again, blame someone else for words that came out of his mouth.

As for running to the star, one time is fun and I am sure it was approved and then it was obvious DAL didn't like it when Smith went to the star on his TD. Great gamesmanship by both, but as we all know, that wasn't enough for Mr. Look At Me. He went and did it again even when his own team was trying to high five him. But what does Mr. Look at Me do, he ifnores the team and over does it as if he is the one who got offended because Emmitt Smith did it.

He is a knucklehead selfish POS who throws others under the bus and rarely holds himself accountable.

Good one using Walsh not liking Mooch to defend a third persons reason for being a dick. Let me see, it's okay TO talked s**t about Mooch because Walsh doesn't like Mooch either. Lol. Right there, your argument sounds dilusional just like TO us when he fingerpoints.

Good day and good bye. TO for POSGOAT.

He wasn't drawing attention to it - it was already a huge story. He was referencing this huge story in taking a shot at the media. I'm not sure why this is so difficult for you to grasp.

Again, Owens never threw anyone under the bus. You can't come up with a single example, because it doesn't exist. SteveWallacesHelmet challenged you like 50 times and you went 0 for 50.

Why are you so offended about back-and-forth between two players? You're a drama queen. 49er fans are some of the most ridiculous fans on the planet. They cry about Terrell Owens doing a celebration on a hated rival's logo, but say nothing about the team's starting quarterback getting a DUI of .237 with two girls under 21 riding along as passengers.

Owens doesn't like the fact that Mariucci threw him under the bus after the star celebration. Look at how Tom Coughlin handled the Odell Beckham Jr situation, standing up for his player. That's what a good coach does. Mariucci, despite the fact that one of his own coaches cleared the celebrations, tells the media he didn't even see it, and then suspends Owens because Owens won't apologize for some harmless fun.

Mariucci was the dick, not Owens. Even Phil Simms was speculating during the Raiders game when Owens returned from his suspension that there must have been something else that caused the suspension, because he didn't think the star celebrations were that big a deal.

Lynch should already be in.

Peter King said last week that Brian Dawkins was the best safety he had seen play in his 30+ years covering pro football. The fact that he was not in the Hall (as of last week) was evidence that safeties are largely unrecognized and vastly under-appreciated by media that covers pro football. In short, he was calling out fellow pro writers for being ball watchers and not looking at what is going on in important positions away from the ball.

Let's hope Dawkins getting in will open the door for John.

Incidentally, your first comment bemuses me. So it's ok to call someone gay, or a quitter, or a poor quarterback as long as you no longer play for the same team? The lack of class of putting down other players publicly is made even worse by the cowardice of not doing it to their face.

Of course it is. Who cares what somebody says about somebody who isn't even his teammate?

I think Jeff Garcia might be gay. There, I said it. Does that make me a bad teammate? I'm as much Garcia's teammate as Owens was at the time he answered the Playboy interview question. Not only that, but Owens clarified the day after it came out (from Eagles camp) that he didn't know whether Garcia was gay or not. Why is that never taken into account?

Oh, and in case you missed it: Jerry Rice said in his interview with Joe Buck last year that Steve Young was "messing him up" by running around too much when he first took over. He also said, "I put both of them in the Hall of Fame" (Montana and Young). At first I thought he was just joking around, but then he said, "Steve laughs when I say that, but Joe gets mad."

In case you werent aware, you arent an NFL player. TO was You dont see the difference in him publicly being offensive about other players and you doing it?

The reason why the 2nd day comment about Garcia isnt taken into account is that it was a s**t thing to say. It just raised an unnecessary subject again. If it was true, why did he make the previous day's comment? He was being a dick and didnt know when to shut his mouth.

The comment about Rice, Montana and Young isnt comparable in any way.
Threads like this make me want to say, congratulations Terrel. You were a good player. Who is to judge anything else. Let's leave it at that, on this day.

Why does that matter? Players say things about other players in the league all the time. Who cares?

Why is the comment from Rice not comparable? Of freak'n course it's comparable. He took shots at Steve Young. He also took shots at John Taylor's work ethic in his book. Both of them are former teammates of his.

Fans are so short-sighted. There are also players all over the league who anonymously bash teammates to media and fans alike. Ted Washington still tells fans to this day that he thinks Steve Young is gay.

But the media tells you how to think about Terrell Owens (based on nothing) and you just believe it.

You guys just don't seem to grasp that the entire reason the media focused on Owens so much was he was the controversial TD celebration guy. Before he celebrated on the star in 2000, they called him unselfish and undemanding, in contrast to Rice, who was known as a whiner. Then he did the celebrations and they started twisting every little thing he said to justify continuing to vilify him.

The whole "bad teammate" crap is a red herring. It's annoying to even have to address it, because it's just smoke and mirrors by the media to make you forget that they were saying all the same things about him immediately after he went to the star at Texas Stadium.

I remember when M-Rob KO'd his ass with a goalline td once. In fact, he KO'd two Eagles in the same game.
