Do you take AD or Borland back if they Un-retire?

Forget about it! Neither one is coming back.
I would take AD back for sure. At least he was legitimately injured last season for most of the year, and he has already played 5 years. Its not like he did the same thing Borland did. You cant really compare the 2 IMO
Garrison Hearst "retired" when he didn't play for two years and we still took him back, so yeah I'd take them both back
Football is a VERY violent game. Even with all facts from research and cautionary tales from guys like Junior Seau... fans still don't get it! This game is PROMISED to give you injuries. Back in the day guys had no clue what the ramifications of the game was. Now these kids KNOW and they are backing out. I think we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg. The NFL is going to have to make drastic changes. Back to the subject at hand... OF COURSE I would take these guys back., they have a right to evaluate their health.

Hearst was basically on IR that whole time as he never gave up trying to play again

both players handled their retirement in a very unclassy way in my opinion.. even if they grovel, no. we hold their rights so the ball is in our court if they come crawling back.

you do not send your employer a text message saying you quit,, that is a b***h move , no matter what shape your head is in
Does anyone know the definition of retirement?
First of all, Borland didn't "retire" he quit. Retirement and 1 year doesn't belong in the same sentence. So no to him, he's a biatch in my book. AD, the guy who calls everyone b***hes and talks so much trash on social media punked out himself, karma is real. To his credit, he did say he's just taking a year or two off, so yes I'd take him back, but he'd have to earn his job back regardless of who we have in his place
Only if they're better than the man they're replacing. Otherwise, they're still on contract..trade bait.
Most definitely take them back. We would get a probowl tackle at a bargin price a year from now, and we would get back the services of what turn out to be waste of a pick in borland.

If they come back later on, do they have to stay with the 49ers? I mean, let's say Borland is signed through 2018 and wants to come back in 2019. Does this make him a FA or does he have to come back to the 49ers? I just don't want them coming back and playing for another team especially the Seachickens!

Assuming they returned to the level of play they had before leaving? The team would without a doubt.
