"Borland initially told the 49ers of his decision to retire via email, to which the team responded by sending him a "bill" for the remainder of his $617,436 signing bonus."

Thoughts??
I read several of the articles. One of the troubling things he said had nothing to do with concussions. As a rookie, he talked about a former player advising the rookies and representing the leaque told him to get a fall guy for when they get in trouble and have it blamed on them. WTF?
I saw that and if anyone investigates that, Goodell's days may be numbered. He can plead that he didn't know about it, but ultimately, it's another drop in the bucket against him, and how he is running the league.
As for Borland, I wouldn't want him on the team anymore. Not that I think he's a bad guy, but I think if he were ever to come back, it would cause a media circus that would be bad. We've had enough of that.

Borland seems like a smart guy. There are more important things than football, good for him.

I don't fault him for retiring. I fault him for waiting until a year after he knew he wanted to. He was a wasted draft pick, and in the end it screws the team that gave him a shot.
