It's also probably easier for a pass rusher to come back after a long layoff as long as he is physically okay. A QB has a lot more to do like throwing, learning a playbook and working out with his receivers.
I do have the bad feeling he may go full Charles Haley. If he's really conquered his demons, his confidence that he can do anything is going to be through the roof.

It's not like he has to relearn how to be a freak athlete.

4 years away from the league...declined every year he was in the league. I just don't see it. He may be a solid player for them but full Charles Haley, doubt it.

Declined every year while he was struggling with addiction? That's surprising. Quinn got 14 sacks with them last year, 10+ sacks from Aldon isn't going to surprise me.

Hope he's able to stay sober during this quarantine. Hard time for addicts to stay clean

Quinn did not take 4 years off. Haley never took 4 years off.

Yeah the time off is a question mark. I see the reports that he's a beast and jacked and all that...is he in football shape?

Something about actually playing the sport vs working out for it is different. Have we ever seen someone come back after such a long absence and have a decent career?

I wish the guy well in his recovery and staying clean but I sure as hell won't be rooting for him to play well, not with the Cowboys. I guess I'm still a bit bitter at what he could've been with us had he kept his head clean. Of all the sh*t things that went down in that offseason from hell...Aldon getting arrested for the final time with us and getting cut was the final nail in the coffin.

the hell with him,. the hell with tomsula. those two did so much damage to our team and i could give a s**t less about aldons issues.... he was babied, the longer you baby them. the longer they will be babied,. sure i believe in second chances... then smith did it again.. and again. the hell with people like him and foster.. drafted to be the cornerstones of our team and then they just stab us in the back.... bosa is everything and more those two were supposed to be,, and f**k his defensive line coach. he did so much damage to our franchise. with those two all we had was a f**k for a duck and a duck for a f**k and in return we got 25 bucks for a f**ked up duck
Lucky Dallas fans. My bro who lives in Ft Worth, and is diehard Cowboy fan for decades, was actually unaware of Aldon's , unh....baggage, shall we say. He has been out of football 4 yrs or so, and i can see how many would not know of his past hx. Wish him well, but sure glad Alton didn't even consider his comeback here.

Nah, Aldon was smart enough to not even consider the 9ers. And i agree , no way in Hades would JL or kyle have considered him. Imagine Aldon, not playing football in four yrs and some, bashing around those OTs, blowing up the middle, and now , out of football 4 long yrs, his physical abilities now. It is just hard to imagine any semblance of the All done we briefly enjoyed, at least initially. Throw in the "whatever it is between his ears" issues and i don't see a winner.

Good on him, tho, for giving it a whirl. For his sake i hope I have to eat those words.

Or the opposite?
I would wish him well if he didn't sign with the Cowboys
