Dude is a legit dumbass who got burned a ton last year. I'd rather have someone that isn't such a jackass and who won't let other players get in his head and throw him off his game like this idiot.

Exactly. Plus there are so many options in free agency. I just don't know why people are flapping on Peters.

Because he is one of the best corners in the game??
Butler, Johnson and the rest of the FA corners aren't even close to Peters and are a much bigger risk to bust.

I didn't say don't get a corner, but you don't have to trade for one, let alone the huge contract Peters will demand. There are many free agent corners to pick from, for example Malcom Butler, Brent Grimes, Trumaine Johnson, etc.
What the 9ers need to achieve is to do well in both free agency as well as the draft.
We are already in a great position given we have our FQB locked up. We can now focus on building a team around Jimmy G.
To do that, we can't afford to blow our picks away for a corner.
Do you think Butler and Johnson will come cheap??
We will moat likely be spending a top pick on a CB anyways. Why not use it on a legit #1 shut down corner who has 19 interceptions and 55 PD's in 3 years?

Not to say they are cheap, but at the very least we are not losing picks on top of forking out a ton of cash.
I don't believe we will use a top pick on a CB. I can see us taking an OG in the 1st or if push comes to shove an ILB thanks to Foster. It is also possible we may trade down to grab some weapons on the offensive side of the ball for Jimmy G like taking a big body WR as well as another RB, both of which could happen in the 2nd round.

We have one CB on the roster who is a starter and he is more of a #2 in Witherspoon. Williams is nice in the slot but we have no-one at CB.
If we sign Vontae Davis that may change things but as of today CB is by far our biggest beed this off-season

Vernon's little brother is visiting, that should give you an idea of what the FO is looking at. I just can't see Lynch forking out picks as well as a huge contract for Peters, I just can't see it. I have a feeling they are just looking at medium level for CBs. Vontae is one and may be Kyle Fuller type guys I reckon.

Here is some kindling to start a fire.... The Chiefs pass defense actually played one of their best games the game Marcus Peters was suspended.

Vontae makes sense because he is an established vet but when CB needy teams like Buffalo and Cleveland let him leave without an offer that says something. He would be good depth and insurance to not have to reach on a top CB in the draft.
Kyle Fuller is going to get 10M a year and other than last year he was well on his way to being a bust. Free agent corners are bit cheap.
I think we will do what we did last year. Fill out our roster holes at CB, Pass rusher, LB and guard with mid level vets in free agency then go into the draft with no needs to fill and take the BPA. I think you are right though and I don't think Lynch will get into bidding wars for free agents unless they check all the boxes like Garcon and Juice did last year.
CB- Vontae Davis, Rashaan Melvin
OG- Spencer Long, Chris Hubbard
LB- Marquis Flowers, Paul Posluszny,
DL- Trent Murphy, Alex Okafor
RB- Rex Burkhead, Jerick McKinnon

Baffles me why people are saying pass on Peters for money reasons when he has 2 more years left on his rookie contract.

I don't see money as the issue...the issue is despite his skillset, he's a problem child. Even on the field, sometimes he's great, other times he's not. He's been in the league long enough to be more mature by now and he just isn't. Niners have their hands full with Foster...they don't need another head case.

I would love to have Peters. Dude is a baller. Although, I think you're correct in terms of Lynch being more hesitant w/ this after the Foster stuff. Actually, I think that would halt any discussion. With Peters rep, being suspended by his team for a game, would go against the culture that Lynch talked about

Peters is a top end talent... when he feels like playing.
Any team trying to trade a top 5 DB in the league raises a MAJOR red flag. MAJOR. We don't need that business especially w/ Foster's issues.
Thanks, but no thanks.
