That be like trading them a 3rd rounder.
Desperately wanted Peters the year we took AA and he has looked great for the Chiefs. Now...not sure about adding another borderline personality to the team, especially given that he is from Oakland and will be closer to his knucklehead friends.
For me, Peters is an enigma. Tremendously talented player who is a true shut-down corner. The only criticism of his play is that he is a gambler who will sometimes gambles and gets burned. However, that is not enough for me to pass on him as a 49er.

My concern about Peters is simply this: KC is desperately in need of talent on defense, including the secondary. So why are they willing to give him up?

They now have Kendall Fuller who is very good, however, before that they had literally no one to play opposite Peters. If they get rid of Peters, they have the same dog but with new fleas. Doesn't make sense.

The one thing that does make sense, for KC, would be if a team offered them a big enough package deal so they could add other pieces without having to spend money they do not have.

KC is effectively locked out of FA this year. Even after the Smith trade they still have very little room, certainly not enough to attract any decent FAs to fill holes left by Hali and Johnson, along with DL needs.

So, to give Peters the benefit of the doubt, KC is only shopping at this time to try to get a max deal from someone who is willing to sacrifice a lot in order to get the one piece they need for a playoff run. It has nothing to do with his character.

It may very well have to do with his character though. That Jets game and the altercation with a coach afterward that netted him a 1 game suspension may have been the last straw for Reid.

That's why he is an enigma with me. I'm just trying to figure out what the answer may be. So far, there are two reasons: 1. character, 2. attempt for a 2-for-1 deal.
Pass please. Awesome player but he is obviously unstable. Do you really want this guy on our team. If you can get him for a 4th or later go for it then cut him if he acts up. As 49er fans we should know better than anyone it's not just about Sundays anymore. Let's get Foster straightened out first. Take chances when we are more established. We have a franchise QB now no need to take chances on head cases it doesn't make sense. Look at the SB you obviously don't need D to win one anymore. Lol

Vernon Davis had a run in with Singletary. He was young and stupid. It won't be the first time a player clashes with coaches.

In his 3 years has Peters had any off field incidents?

VD seems like like an outlier. i have rarely seen someone mature like that before and after. Maybe we should get singletary to talk to foster.

Nope. But you would never know it from the contingent of fans here who want no part of him. He is clearly too Oakland for some.

More than just a run in with a coach though. Dude is a highly emotional player who has regularly struggled to control said emotions on the field. This has been an issue in HS, in college and still is in the pros.

Coaches and teammates and even his own parents have not been able to get through to him. Its not going to change IMHO. Great player but a highly volatile personality and attitude on the field.

Then there is the well-known incident where Marshawn Lynch ran on the field to pull him out of a fight to keep him from being ejected...

Highly volatile.
I'vet told you guys before, this guy is very talented but he reminds me so much of another KC Chiefs who can not be controlled.. DALE CARTER..

Panthers game incident too, where he punted the ball in the stands (this was the second week in a row he punted a ball in the stands) after creating a TO in a tie game with under 30 seconds left tp play and the ball just outside the RZ. Luckily it did not prove costly but a boneheaded move.
guys like peters don't get thrown into the trade block often unless its for a good reason. dude might not be a cancer off the field but he can cost teams the game due to his emotions. Plus being close too oakland might not be too good for him. Idk if lynch gets him ill be happy cause he is a great player despite those problems.

The real risk here is not in the trade compensation. It's in the extension.

You can't make a deal for Peters unless his agent agrees to provisions in any extension that protect the team for behavioral issues. If that doesn't happen, there's not shot at a deal.
