Wouldn't be surprised if it was for the Rams 1st round pick since they don't have a second. Oh well, Trumaine Johnson, come on down...oh, and you too Malcom Butler

No way in hell they gave up a 1st.

That's what many credible sources are reporting. A 1 and then some. Makes sense why we backed out. I'm guessing we offered our 2nd knowing the Rams couldn't match it and then they decided to go all in with a 1st.

oh s**t, could be. I totally forgot the rams were good this season, so it would be a late 1st. So yea, I can see that.

Yeah, in that case thank god we pursued him as well and atleast forced the Rams to open their pockets for him.
Indifferent about not getting him but i will love the pick 6s he gets off wilson who is always under seige vs rams rush

Its not as simple as player A doesnt get thrown at so he doesnt get the picks that player B gets who gets thrown at all the time. Peters get thrown at, just like everyone else, but he also makes a lot of plays too. Sure he gives up plays, but they all do. He seems to make more plays than he doesnt. Plus hes a threat to score everytime he touches it, which u cant say for a lot of other cbs.

Peters is a good player but he's not a top 5 corner.

He's also someone who is traded with 2 seasons(including 5th year option) on his rookie deal. What team trades a top 5 player before his rookie season runs out if they felt he was a top 5 player and didn't have a lot of extra baggage?

Maybe a change of scenery is what Peters needs but considering our issues with Foster adding a guy like Peters for some serious trade compensation(we'll see the specifics) IMO doesn't make sense for US. And what we do is what I care about.

Peters is overrated because of his interceptions. I guess everyone forgets what we experienced all year with our corners getting flagged non stop? Peters makes some great plays and then turns around and gives up a huge one. I'd have no issues with us bringing him in for a day 3 pick but the situation and compensation we're hearing doesn't make any sense.
The Rams made themselves better and get to keep him for the upcoming season. They would have had to pay Johnson immediately and obviously decided Peters was the better DB. The Rams got better and clearly believe they have a window to compete now. In a division featuring Goff, Wilson, and Garapolo, teams are going to need DB's.

I've stated already that I believe the 49ers should go after Malcolm Butler.

We dont have to dig in on one side or the other. Its very possible the rams got a very good player AND it wasnt the right fit for the 49ers

Obvious Rams' fan who is here to see what Niner fans think....and while doing so, wants to stir the pot.

The Rams got better? So what. That what's teams try to do. I'm only concerned with what San Francisco is going to do moving forward.

I'm glad we threw our name in the hat, but I'll gladly pay Johnson and keep our picks.

The fact that Reid moved on from him is crazy, there must be some sort of issue there. Matt miller said back in 2015 while speaking to a 49er executive about peters that they couldn't draft a bi-polar kid with street connections in Oakland.

Exactly! What I was saying earlier. They are making a lot of smart moves but losing out on cheap top tier talent in the draft.
Lynch didn't go after him for a reason, let the GM build this team. He ain't no baalke.
