Do you disagree with the cost or the fact Fuller and Melvin ranked higher than Johnson?

PFF ranking is somewhat general, however, it does give a relative ranking. Among all CBs, Melvin was ranked #17, Fuller was ranked #22, while Johnson was #68. TBH, I was surprised Johnson was that low but it is what it is.

Johnson's deal was $16,7M/yr. He will be lucky to get that again, IMO. Fuller and Melvin will get rich but $11-13M is about where they will wind up, plus incentives.

All I know is that Rams fans don't seem to care if Johnson comes back or not. He's a guy who is really up and down, good game, terrible game, good game, terrible game, gets beat far too often to be considered a premium CB or to be paid like one. I would rather the 49ers look elsewhere, especially if they can get a guy who has had similar performances for less money.

I only saw him play 4 games last season, IIRC. He didn't stand out in any way. Certainly did not look like the $16,000,000 man. Like you, I an not particularly interested in him.

My first choice FA CB is Melvin. He is equally effective in coverage as run support. Ironically, he finished the season ranked just one spot below Peters. What that tells me is that while Peters makes the flash play now and then, he also misses enough times to pull his ranking down to equal with a more consistent, though not as flashy, guy.
What in the HE!! is the hold up as far as making the trade compensation known? GEEEEESH!

Lol dude I wasnt speaking about his talent... i know he's good. Its his personality i was referring to. They have a very young coach and as good a he is, i hope he can control Peters when he loses it on the field.

How often does he really cost his team games? I'll take one or two incidents a year if you're the top defensive playmaker in the NFL. He's not one of those all time "lockdown" guy's, but he truly is proving to be an all time playmaker. He's as good as you'll find in the game today.

I agree he's a playmaker, but its alarming that the Chiefs would just get rid of him like that. Its not like they didnt have any veterans on that team so if they couldnt get him to stop throwing tantrums, i think the Rams have their hands full if he doesnt change. Besides we already have one talented idiot to deal with in Foster.
Imo locker room chemistry is vastly underrated by fans. I think the fact that the Chiefs were willing to part with him at all speaks volumes. Peters is good, obviously, but if he's divisive in the locker room how good for a team is he really? I like him on the field, I suppose we will see what effect he has on the team.

Ian Rappaport is saying that he never really got along with Andy Reid. That says a lot right there. Reid has always been a guy players love to play for. When Nick Foles was considering coming back, the only HC he wanted to play for was Reid. Also, Eric Berry spent a lot of time with the kid, trying to keep him settled but to no avail. So, while that is not everything, it say a lot.

Various KC reporters are sounding like this might be a big re-tool/rebuild year for the Chiefs. IP said the Chiefs realized they had to make some changes in the secondary. One of those was trying to trade Steven Nelson (who wouldn't be worth much, IMO). Peters wound up making more sense for them.

When we find out the terms of the deal, I expect to see multiple drafts picks involved. They desperately need to regain some of the draft booty they gave up for Mahomes. To recall, they gave Buffalo a 1st and a 3rd this year, and a 1st next year. That leaves them strapped with tools to rebuild the team. I won't be surprised if they recoup one of those firsts and the 3rd in this Peters deal.

In addition to OL and DL needs, it sounds like they will let Albert Wilson and Chris Conley leave. That means they will also be looking for WRs in the draft since they don't have money for FAs.

Considering how many holes they have in that team, Patrick Mahomes better turn out of have a fantastic season this year or they will struggle to play .500 football.

This..Just because he didnt get along with his headcoach it doesnt mean he can act the way he does. Its been well documented that he's had personality issues. He was even dismissed from UW football team for having arguments and disputes with coaches.

smart move to pass on him...we already have issues with foster..don't need another one
Forced 24 turnovers in his 1st 3 years.

That's more than Deion (18) and Charles Woodson (15)
Was it ever revealed what the Rams gave up to get him?

Which makes it all the more puzzling why KC traded him.

We can only speculate, however, there have been multiple times during games when he has been filmed in arguments with teammates, being restrained by both Eric Berry and Justin Houston. He has also engaged in screaming profanities at fans, even at home games. All of this has contributed in some way but is that enough to trade him?

I suspect there is much more that has not made the news...yet.

Nope.

I would imagine some of it has to do with the fact its just a trade thats been agreed to. It hasnt actually been executed and cant be for a little bit. I know the terms of the alex smith trade were made public but the teams arent under any obligation to say anything right now.
