There are...maybe...5 non-QBs in the NFL that would get a 1st round pick in a trade. And, obviously, there is a reason those guys are never made available.

Peters is not elite on the open market simply due to the massive amount of risk a team takes on bringing him in. You don't have to agree with it for that to be true.

Non-QBs rarely, if ever, go for 1st round picks straight up. Also, while Peters is great -- some dudes are seriously overestimating his market worth.

Most of this is false. Elite CBs are never traded. The only reason the compensation is as low as it is is because of the off the field issues and that's all there is to it.

A player is worth whatever a team is willing to pay for him. In this case i my own team pursued the trade. Without the off the field issues, there are numerous suitors, thus driving up the price. Supply and demand.

That's right. And in the case of non-QBs... it ain't much.

I gave him plenty of other corners who had better starts to their career but he never responded back. Guess after all that he didn't actually bother waiting....

This is why waiting to see what happens makes the most sense. It's like there are two ends of the spectrum here for a lot of people. Either Rams pulled off the trade heist of the century and Peters is a coverage God or the Rams just lit a fire in their locker room.

See what happens.

In either case regardless of what happens with KC and LAR the move didn't make sense for us. Locker room cohesion IS important and we need to do everything we can to keep that in tact and not bring in guys who have a good chance to disrupt that and cause issues for the coaches with distractions and other stuff that's not good for the team. We already have enough with Foster. Adding more isn't a smart move for this team.

Obviously other teams felt the same which is why the Rams were the only team to make an offer.

The people making the comments about us being the only team to offer a trade for Garoppolo are either being trolls or stupid. It was pretty obvious the Pats don't make it known who offered them trades. Cleveland were the ones that let it be known they were interested in Jimmy G and obviously we had to reveal we traded...since you know we traded for him. But it's pretty obvious the Pats are tight lipped about who talks to them about trades and vice versa but they can't control the other team talking about it.

Per MMQB, the Chiefs called every team in the NFL regarding Peters, but only 3 teams showed any interest.

Humbled? Probably not just gonna make him more fierce and more penalties will come. Can't wait

Id use the "I'll wait" line, but I dont want to die before you can come up with an answer.

You can add Patrick Peterson and Charles Woodson just off the top of my head too

I agree 100% with that. That is what makes this trade of interest.

Two reasons:

1. It affirms the fact that Peters had become such a source of problems in the locker room "Monday thru Saturday" that he could no longer remain in KC.

2. The fact the Rams were willing to give what they did despite the known problems affirms that on the field, Peters is an elite CB.

My surprise is that more teams were not willing to even engage in conversation about Peters. All of which only confirms #1.

In the future, I see no way that this trade establishes a level of value for CBs. This is an outlier, neither a floor nor ceiling. Only a curious outlier.

Just my .02...

LOL. Peters had almost as many interceptions as the two of them combined, as well as shutting down his side of the field.

Try again.

Oh, I thought only one team made an offer?

They eventually had to put a sixth-rounder with the Pro Bowl corner to get the Rams to give them back a fourth-rounder this year and a second-round pick in 2019. That's hardly what you'd think to be good value for such a talented player. King mentioned that one team offered a mid-round pick (speculating that it was either Cleveland or the Colts).

Yes, I was clearly inaccurate saying he has had the best 3 year start to his career out of any corner in history.....

However, some of the rebuttals that people have had to try to prove me wrong have been laughable. Cant believe I forgot about Revis.

Peterson was a First Team all pro as a rookie and in his third year and made the pro bowl his first 4 years. Can you say the same for Peters? Nope. And this was determined by people with more football knowledge then either of us based on the year they played compared to others that year. Peterson and Woodson both had more tackles by a good amount and were better against the run. As for interceptions, they didn't have as many because people were afraid to throw at them and still are. Peterson even had more all pro votes than peters this year.

Some good stuff in this response, but some stuff I disagree with as well.

After years of debate in the Alex Smith thread, I was told that throwing interceptions is THE worst thing that a QB could do. Keeping INT numbers down should be the main goal of a QB. So on the flipside of this, creating turnovers have to be THE most important thing a CB can do. Creating interceptions is far more important than tackle numbers. Tackling is important, but probably the least important aspect of a corner's job. So if you have two players who both shut down their side of the field, I will take the guy who has double the interceptions over the guy who has double the tackles.

Also, you cant use the people were afraid to throw at Peterson or Woodson argument when thats exactly the same thing that has been happening in KC. Check the numbers.

Should've left it at the first sentence.
