You can add Patrick Peterson and Charles Woodson just off the top of my head too
LOL. Peters had almost as many interceptions as the two of them combined, as well as shutting down his side of the field.
Try again.
Peterson was a First Team all pro as a rookie and in his third year and made the pro bowl his first 4 years. Can you say the same for Peters? Nope. And this was determined by people with more football knowledge then either of us based on the year they played compared to others that year. Peterson and Woodson both had more tackles by a good amount and were better against the run. As for interceptions, they didn't have as many because people were afraid to throw at them and still are. Peterson even had more all pro votes than peters this year.
After years of debate in the Alex Smith thread, I was told that throwing interceptions is THE worst thing that a QB could do. Keeping INT numbers down should be the main goal of a QB. So on the flipside of this, creating turnovers have to be THE most important thing a CB can do. Creating interceptions is far more important than tackle numbers. Tackling is important, but probably the least important aspect of a corner's job. So if you have two players who both shut down their side of the field, I will take the guy who has double the interceptions over the guy who has double the tackles.
Also, you cant use the people were afraid to throw at Peterson or Woodson argument when thats exactly the same thing that has been happening in KC. Check the numbers.
Hmmm dunno about that.
Most-targeted NFL cornerbacks in coverage last season: 1. Marcus Peters, KC (137) 2. Dre Kirkpatrick, CIN (112) 3. Antwon Blake, PIT (110)

Year 1
The action has followed Peters into his second year. While his opposing quarterback rating has dropped to 64.4 (eighth) and he's picked off five more passes (again tied for the league lead), he's also allowed 35 receptions on 58 targets for 508 yards and two touchdowns through nine games,
per PFF. year 2.
No info without paying for it year 3, but at least through his 1st two seasons he was one of the most highly targeted in the NFL and was allowing some yardage and scores.
Not saying the kid isn't good because he is, but he's not Deion, Peterson, Woodson etc. If he were more than 1 team would have been clamoring for his services, and the Chiefs wouldn't have shopped him.
