Peters is good. Making excuses as to why he's not is silly. He plays every play and gets better every week. If he works hard and stays healthy he could be a top corner in the league for the next 10 years. Congrats to him.

Last game he gave up 86 receiving yards. A 30 yard play and a 41 yard play. Meaning he shut down the WR's to 16 yards for the rest of the game. He had a pick 6. Then another INT on the next drive to ice the game. He's a straight play maker and a game changer.

That is what a good player does. Give up a play. Make a play.

Is a quarterback not good because he was 21/30 for 250 yards and 3 td's because he missed on 5 passes that could have been big plays?

ESPN doesn't show highlights of him giving up a 30 yard pass in the 1st quarter. They show him racing 90 yards to the endzone for a pick six.

I agree he wouldn't be as productive on a crappy team like we have with horrible coaches. If his production was half as good as it is with KC he'd still be one of our best CB's.

Agreed and this is about what you'd want from a rookie in a system that affords him to be aggressive (unlike our "zone coverage" here). He's a great fit for their system and congrats to him. Some were just adding context to his overall game and how image and stats are what drive probowl votes.

I agree that he is good but he makes lots of mistakes. He's a playmaker but not a shutdown corner and that's what the best CBs are. Maybe he develops into a shutdown corner but right now he isn't.

Good player have a 1 play given/play made ratio or something next to that IMO. Great players rarely gives up plays but when challenged they constantly makes it(look at Norman, Revis, Sherman or the other top corners).

I think a better QB comparison would be one that has 3 TDs but also gives up 3 INT.

He will probably correct his mistakes and become a great player but until there he is only a good CB who is in a team with one of the best pass rush duos in the whole NFL.

It is the second hardest position in the NFL as evidenced by peters getting b***hed by qbs allowing the SECOND most yards tds and his rating against qbs is bad as is his PFF ranking. just bc he got some incredibly easy ints WITH a terrific pass rush doesn't fool real football evaluators that would lose their s**t if you told us......Baalke drafted a rookie CB that gave up the second most yards tds and a bad qb rating completions and gets picked on. We would call him anbaalke bust that made some easy plays with no pass rush. If he were on the niners with no pass rush he would easily be LAST among those categories and easily have less ints. Let's not forget Sean smith often covers the opposing teams best wr.

So we deserve to gloat a little bit as well. Hell I guess if ginn was named to the probowl he would have to be considered very good too and among the best????

Props all of us who like the AA pick

He hasn't been perfect, but you're biased hating is ignoring the magnitude of his big plays. Some CBs are game changers and have a knack for the big play. He has shown that this year. And the kid is only a rookie, so he should just get better and better...

All of this, and lol at people in this thread still trying to diminish the fact that he made the Pro Bowl as a rookie CB. It's embarrassing really.

The anti Peters stuff stems a lot from Suswell's debates in the AA thread. He's a hated man by many in here. But I think he enjoys it.

I think he just enjoys being right

To me it's fine to have the debate about draft picks, but it's apparently really difficult for some to admit they're wrong. To say this guy is "garbage" or a "scrub" just makes it that much more hilarious.

I'll be the first to say sorry about calling the kid a scrub because he's not...congrats to him in the pro-bowl. Like NC said earlier KC's press man is perfect for Peters along with that monstrous pass rush. If you watched Peters in college you would have saw he wasn't very good in zone-coverage which is what we run most of the time. I think DJ can be a fine press man and showed it when we played Atlanta. Also people were complaining about not drafting headcases and Peters was exactly that (getting kicked out of college).

Peters has given up the 3rd most rec, yards, and TDs in the league which will happen as a rookie. The big play INTs are what made him get the Pro-Bowl nod..blows my mind how Mathieu, Darby,Verrett,Slay or even Peters teammate Sean Smith didn't get the call? All were much better in coverage IMHO.

I think Peters will have a good career but I'm fine with our young corp of CBs and I like the future of our first two picks in AA and Tarrt as well.

Good post. Honestly, I was a little surprised he was picked this year. I thought he would make it in the future.... its possible to like AA and Peters. AA has shown flashes. If he has the drive, he can be good. He needs to work hard.

Also, I like our young secondary also. Tartt, Ward, DJ, and even Acker has shown flashes. I'm SO over Brock though
Zomg peters gives up catches he is sooo sucky!
Baalke showed a lot of interest in Darby and Peters last spring and both had excellent rookie seasons. I hope he pulls the trigger on another CB this year. Breeland isn't another guy I thought we'd draft. We need to upgrade the position

Gives up 3rd most rec catches and TDs...I mean that's not very good for a CB.

He's got play making ability and is rookie I expect him to get better but hats not great numbers IMO.

I had Peters as my third CB in the draft behind Johnson and jones...solid press man but not a fit for what we do plus he had the question marks with getting kick off his team.

I wanted breeland as well and he was in one of my mocks. I remember Baalke bringing him in for a workout. He's turned out pretty good.

Brock actually is playing okay especially in coverage his run defense not so much...don't think he's a #1 but a solid CB.

I rather put picks and money into pass rushers than CBs but that's just my opinion
Pro Football Focus:

"Peters has been beat for seven touchdowns this year (fourth-worst in the league) and allowed more yards into his coverage (902) than every NFL corner except Pittsburgh's Antwon Blake."
Thank you everyone who gave me props for my outstanding pre draft analysis of last seasons amateur draft. I'm already hard at work analyzing film and scouting the eligible student athletes for the 2016 selection process. I'll keep you guys posted with my mock selections as we near the selection date.
