He's one of the players a lot of NFL analysts point to as being overpaid and under-producing that the Rams have acquired in the last year. So, IMHO he wouldn't be a good acquisition. Further, both Tarvarius Moore & D.J. Reed are looking better each time they play. I think they're both keepers. What I would do if I was Lynch is sign Jason Verett, Ron Darby, Darqueze Dennard, or Bashaud Breeland to give the secondary some more experience. These guys are all 25/26 yrs old and could help Sherman show the youngsters how things are done. Not sure where Witherspoon is at this point...he's had an up & down 2nd season.

How is this relevant?

One dude was a 3rd round pick, the other is a 1st round pick that got traded for a 2nd and 4th.

The latter SHOULD be doing WAY better than the former.

Nothing I said had anything to do with expectations.

I said Peters has played as an average CB this year. Whether that means he is living up to expectations or not has nothing to do with my statement that his play has been average.

But hey, I'm sure if you guys put in a dozen more smileys, you'll have a convincing argument

because PFF grades are a joke.
FWIW, Peters rating of 57.8 is considered "average" as to what is expected per their rating system. However, that rating ranks him #101 of 116 CBs. That is about where he has been all year long. Last year in KC he finished about #30, IIRC. Says a lot about the system fit.

Witherspoon is next to last although his rating improved somewhat in the last three games he played.

And I would disagree a lot with both rankings.

This year I'd probably put Peters somewhere around #50, basically an average CB2. I'd put Spoon at around #70, or basically a sub-par CB2.

But if you were to ask me who'd I'd rather have on my team? Spoon. And don't be shocked that if we get a good edge rusher suddenly Spoon's play "magically" improves. I'm one of the few big believers in Spoon though.

Every CB gets beat, and gets beat a lot. Its just whether the QB has the time and ability to hit the open window or if another defender due to scheme closes it off. On a number of Peters "blown" plays, even back to KC, it looked like a coverage/scheme issue. Because it keeps happening to Peters, my assumption is he doesn't play the defense the coaches call all the time and makes snap judgments. That's just a hunch on my part, and Ithink its very likely based on his personality issues.

Edit: As far as true "lockdown" corners that can cover a WR90%+ time, man there might be 3-4 in the league at any given time. But for some reason that's what fans expect out of corners and get mad if a corner gets beat.

PFF is useful to gain a relative perspective of various players. Film and knowledge of individual assignments are critical to a fuller evaluation. Lacking that, PFF is the best tool available for fans.

You are correct about Peters in KC. He had a lot of freedom to play zone and made some great plays but he also made some bone head plays. Those plays drove Bob Sutton and Andy Reid crazy. Add in his emotional instability and that got him shipped to LA.

It is well said that good corners have a short memory.

Lol, are you trying to prove my point? You said bottom ten CB, he's not.

He's been average this year, everyone agrees with that but he's still more valuable than Arik Armstead has been this year and that's an undeniable fact. Dude is basically invisible.

I'm going to be quiet on this Peters guy because something tells me Shannahlynch will go after him next year when the Rams trade him away.

Hahaha No you just keep proving my point. What awful posts you have on this guy. Of course he is a bottom 10 corner this year because he is playing like one. I guess you really don't get it do you. We're not even talking about Armstead so you bringing that up is ridiculous. We are just talking about Peter's play, which is garbage on the Rams. If you want to get into it, Arik is playing better this year than peters but who cares.

Let me guess are you one of the bright people that said Nnamdi was great on the Eagles and Niners when his play fell off a cliff. Do you argue that Peyton Manning was doing great on the Broncos his last year? That's what you are doing here. After he was terrific on the Raiders? What a joke, thanks for the laughs

I don't know the Rams will even trade him. Just as easily can rescind his option and let him walk. I wouldn't pay 9 mil for his god awful play this year.
