He would of avoided Miller coming around the edge.

Agreed. He had plenty of room. Stepping up into a pocket always helps out the tackles on deep dropbacks. He was nearly 10 yards behind the LoS trying to throw that.
I saw He didn't hitch several times in the game. He was standing flat footed and even leaning backwards on many throws.
Aren't the tackles here suppsed to take the OLB wide? And shouldn't cam know that and step up, even if he didn't see it. He's gotta trust his line here.
That's what i always thought anyway.
Yup. On a deep drop like that, a QB should know that the edge rusher sees the deep drop and will try to beat the tackle up the field (around the edge). Step up into the pocket if available (it was), and help out the OTackle. That's a nice pocket to step into.
I think Ware was on a stunt and looks like he was supposed to come up the middle, but he got shoved way wide, so the middle looked clear.
That is the only thing I can think of besides cam was choking a weiner.

Eli looked like he was either pissed or tragically disappointed Peyton tied him for SB rings when they showed him on camera in the Manning luxury suite after the second strip-sack of Newton in the closing minutes of the game. Like a real blank, vacant expression. Maybe that's just the kind of stupid look he has all the time.

Cam was doing this all year and never was pressured till he played a real defense. Even against Seattle he couldn't do anything.
That OL spoiled him all year till he faced stiffer competition

Thl408, what did you think of Shulas game plan? And do you think he should take much of the heat for the way the offense played? Did you see any adjustments from him as the game went along.
Thanks for breaking down film. I always enjoy your work.
What I do't understand is why Carolina took Cam's legs out of the equation.

I don't think Shula was patient with the run game. DEN was set out not to let CAR run inside between the tackles. DEN would come with a bear front to prevent this. CAR needed to attack the edges. I saw at least one QB option where Cam ended up pitching the ball to a RB and it went for good yardage. It's a risky play, but knowing what we know now, that DEN's edge rushers were wreaking so much havoc, CAR needed to get that ground game going. It's not like CAR was ever down by a huge margin, so what's up with the 41 dropbacks? I do know DEN came with every coverage in the book to try to confuse Cam. Cover0/1/3/6/Quarters. And they mixed it up well too. I didn't closely review the game so I don't know about what adjustments were made.

So if Denver's defense doesn't completely shut down carolina, the decision to let manning start would be a huge issue.

So they could lose yet again! Sheezus! Instead of the 1-2's they would be the 1-3's!
It would have been so much more entertaining to see the new looks of frustration and disgust on Carroll and Sherman.
