The Pats played a lot of 5-6 man fronts stunting up front, and playing zone on the back end. McVay never found a way to get the green game, the horizontal run game, or bootleg game going. He just seemed so confident that his game plan would work, fright up until the end, when it utterly failed him...and what the f**k was that field goal attempt at the end of regulation...are you s**tting me, game on the line, one play left to tie it, and you trot out that?

They were down 10.
This so called high - powered offense aka greatest show on turf 2.0 scored three points only.

Down 10, but basically blown out from a defensive perspective.

Can you imagine how teams and their fans who have hired McVay "disciples" for 2019 feel right now after the Boy Genius set the record for the lowest score in SB history?!?!

If he shuts off, BB has to shut off as well???
No I think this is a misunderstanding. What I heard was that McVay- at one point- tried to get the rams to break the huddle with around 15 seconds left so Bill couldn't adjust his defensive call over the mic. Which wouldn't of worked anyways since his team- apparently- had two defensive calls right out of the huddle to confuse Goff.

Don't quote me on this though. I've only watched the game once so far.
So, if I understand correctly, Rams hold the records for: 1) lowest combined points in the SB; and 2) 8 straight punts on first 8 possessions.

At least they made SB history in those categories.

If anything the Rams fan should be grateful the ire Niner fans have for the Rams isn't what it used to be in the old days, with the Seahawks our current enemy #1.....

I rooted for the Pats to beat the Rams in 2001 almost as hard as I did for them to beat Seahawks in 2014....this game was essentially neutral for me.

End of the day, I expect NO Rams fan to ever show any respect for the 49ers or root for us to beat hated teams across the NFL.............so they can f**** off for all I care.

That's exactly how I felt! I love how Tom Brady game manage that victory against the Rams even if they did cheat I loved it. This game I didn't care who won I just knew the Rams did not deserve to be there

No the NFL cuts all communication to the QB and D-QB when the play clock reaches 15. I think BB wasn't letting Goff/Mcvay see the defensive formation until the play clock was at 15. So since Mcvay wasn't getting that advantage, there's no point talking to Goff about said defensive formation. He reciprocated the favor and started lining up at 15 secs too, so BB couldn't talk to the D-QB either.

You would think this is a bad idea, and with QBs like Foles and Garoppolo it would be a terrible idea, but mcvay had nothing to lose because Goff is a potato, can't read defenses, can't change the play, and only plays well when the play action works.
