I actually thought the rams would trade up for Zach Wilson this year after watching Goff hamper the team. I just figured they didn't have the draft picks after the goff and Ramsey trades to make it happen I guess they did but wanted Stafford instead

This. Make fun of the Rams all you want, but they have upgraded at the most important position. An yet, here we are trying to scheme around our QB's shortcomings

How's that? The Rams are also 32 million over the cap so they will have to cut contracts and rework contracts which means drawing out the pay.
If you plan on Bosa missing an entire season. Kittle missing 8 games. Deebo missing 9 games. Mostert missing 8 games. Starting Mullens and Beathard for 10 games. Starting guys off the street for multiple games....then yea...they are better.

And with the Stafford trade comes balance. Now like you said they have to cut some salary to create room, I expect at least one key veteran being cut and more of their free agents unable to be re-signed.

Please explain how the Stafford trade is going to make them have to cut players.

They are 32 million over the salary cap after the Stafford trade because they are still on the hook for most of Goff's salary this year. They might not cut anyone. Certainly a possibility. Their other option would be to restructure contracts to get them under the cap. Either way it's not good spot to be in. What they will probably end up doing is signing Stafford to an extension and deferring most of his money to later years. Will they be able to defer 32 million? I'm not sure. But at least it takes the Rams out of being competitive in free agency I would think and I highly doubt they resign Leonard Floyd.

The Rams will be serious super bowl contenders next season.

Apparently the new Lions GM worked for the rams nearly 20 years. He did the rams a solid by taking Goff's contract.
