So what. They´re better than us right now.

How's that? The Rams are also 32 million over the cap so they will have to cut contracts and rework contracts which means drawing out the pay.

If you plan on Bosa missing an entire season. Kittle missing 8 games. Deebo missing 9 games. Mostert missing 8 games. Starting Mullens and Beathard for 10 games. Starting guys off the street for multiple games....then yea...they are better.

And with the Stafford trade comes balance. Now like you said they have to cut some salary to create room, I expect at least one key veteran being cut and more of their free agents unable to be re-signed.

Please explain how the Stafford trade is going to make them have to cut players.

They are 32 million over the salary cap after the Stafford trade because they are still on the hook for most of Goff's salary this year. They might not cut anyone. Certainly a possibility. Their other option would be to restructure contracts to get them under the cap. Either way it's not good spot to be in. What they will probably end up doing is signing Stafford to an extension and deferring most of his money to later years. Will they be able to defer 32 million? I'm not sure. But at least it takes the Rams out of being competitive in free agency I would think and I highly doubt they resign Leonard Floyd.

Agree. That's what I've been reading too. Over the Cap site still has to update their data, but I can see a lot of good rams players unwilling to restructure and going to test out the free market. Because if a player doesn't restructure - I think the Rams have to cut him to be under the cap. It's 30 million *over* the cap that they have to get rid of somehow. It's going to be interesting to see who the Rams have to let go.
Thank God. Stafford is a perpetual loser even with the best WRs.

Fans always make jokes about the Rams for not having 1st round picks all the time but they have been in playoffs 3 out of 4 years with McVay and their worst season is a respectable 9-7..........and the did all that with Goff as their QB.

The Rams are freaking scary now and we have the worst QB in the division.

I don't get the with Goff as their QB. He isn't elite or even the tier below, but you're talking as if he's Rex Grossman or something.

With that said, yeah, Safford is gonna be a problem, but we'll see.

They'll not have had a first round pick between 2017 and 2023. Good Lord.
I can imagine the Rams GM waking up this morning and saying "I traded HOW MUCH for Stafford? My God, how much did I have to drink yesterday?"
With Andrew Witworth's daddy (Nick Bosa) coming back, I'm not worried. Rams still are $30M over the cap. They have a good chunk of free agents, no first round draft pick this year. I think our defense will murder Stafford with that O-line protecting him.

Joe Gibbs did this sort of thing and made it work. But he was one of the greats. With the salary cap I can't see the Rams coming out of this looking anything but rather dumb. My opinion.
Rams better than us? We still swept them this year with a half injured team. Stafford won't matter when Bosa is back ... plus our 1st Rd pick to fortify our already great defense. Same old sorry ass Rams.

This trade will cost Snead his job. SOSAR
Still could be the worse team in the West. Our division is going to beating each other up.

We dodged a bullet. I think Les Snead is frigging nuts giving up so much and being $32 mil over the cap. Oh well, that's his problem.
The Rams are stupid. Overpay for free agents and trade away the best way to add affordable talent through the draft. Yikes.

This is a clear upgrade at QB. But they have such a top heavy roster. They are a few injuries away from being 7 - 9 instead of 10 - 6.
The Rams philosophy of few superstars collapses when Donald declines, right? He will be 30 this year. For comparison, watt is 31 now and will be 32 this year.
