Is it correct to look at the player's 2021 cap hit and start subtracting from that (cut that player, subtract the cap)? lol $34 million in dead cap.

The Rams restructured the Seals of Wood, Kipp, Donald and Ramsey. But they didn't cut salaries, they postponed it to future years. Les Snead is either dumb or it's an inside job.

he certainly has built a house of cards (once it falls the franchise could be under water for a decade)

but..in the meantime he as put a good team on the field and keeps retooling.
Since before the 2018 season people have been saying the Rams window will be completely shut in two years with the way they do business. But here we are 3 years later and it still looks wide open for the foreseeable future. Re-signing Floyd was a huge win for them. Their roster was already stacked. They were in more of a position to try and keep their players than look for new free agents.
They got someone to take Goff.

That was unexpected for their future cap (2022 and beyond)

It cleared a ton of future money for them to push existing contracts forward.

In 3 years they have no QB signed and another bad cap situation looming.

You have to pay the bill eventually

Too bad the bill keeps getting extended every year until this one season
They lost a bunch of 1st round draft picks to push the bill out

The #Rams had asked DL Michael Brockers to adjust his contract. The two sides couldn't come to terms. Now he's headed to Detroit.

They've been one of the healthiest teams in the NFCW the last 4 years (even though Goff and Donald played injured in the playoffs). Eventually the law of averages evens out.
lol

The #Lions are trading a 2023 7th round pick to the #Rams in exchange for DT Michael Brockers, source said.

Another blow to the Rams' D in having to dump salary. Brockers has been a key part of their DL. And, getting a 2023 7th Rd. pick in return? lol
Rams fans mocking the Trent Williams signing for investing that much into one player.

Of all the fan bases, they should talk.
