They are trying to buy a SB so when they lose, it will be that much sweeter!
They've got Stafford so it's pretty much a done deal anyway. Adding Miller to that line on passing downs eliminates James "Jimmy" Garoppolo. A screen is the best we'll get.

salary cap most certainly exists, you just need to have the right dudes signed. When you have elite talent at important positions signed long-term (QB/pass rusher/LT/CB) you can constantly restructure their deals to lower the cap. You're basically converting a players base salary into a signing bonus. They get more cash upfront and you can spread that signing bonus out through the next couple yrs of their deal.
SF did that this yr with Ford/Ward, but they don't have anyone else on a massive cap hit this yr worth restructuring. Jimmy was the only dude that could have saved this team a massive amount of cap space. They chose to leave it alone because he's gone in a yr.
Next yr Jimmy's off the books, AA will be restructured and possibly Kittle. They should give Tomlinson/Deebo extensions and starting figuring out Bosa's deal too.
They should have cash to upgrade the secondary and get some quality depth across the board.

The salary cap isn't a real thing. Period.

Broncos are essentially paying Von's salary for the rest of this year. Yes, the salary cap is a real thing.

They are super bold, if it doesn't pay off they have little draft capital.

They are all in, but just knowing Von from Denver. Its 50/50 if he either finishes the season or holds up the momentum for him to try his hardest. He's been either injured or phoning it in for a few years now. He has the ability to put up 14+ sacks every year, if thats the Von they get then watch out. Otherwise he is basically the same player Dee Ford is now.
The scary thing is that now he may have found motivation, and when he had a Bradley Chubb (pre injury) or Barrett he put up some good numbers. Having Donald on that same line... he will probably hit 12+ sacks by the end of the season. Right now he is at 4.5.

Bosa is better than current Von. Ford is actually contributing and still getting paid. Add in limited draft capital and a very slim outside chance to even make the playoffs... there was no reason for the niners to jump at the chance. Maybe if we were 6-1, this team isnt overflowing with confidence to take that chance. Plus DB is way more of a need. Also, Denver is loading up on picks to trade them all away for a QB next year.

So you are saying a team can figure out a way to get around the salary cap huh?
It isnt a real thing.

You can chose the cap or draft picks.
The Rams get 4 compensatory picks this year, so they were happy to sale off the first part of their draft for half a season. If they resign him this offseason... then the cap isnt real.

Good trade for Rams I guess but I would not trade a 2nd & 3rd for half a season of Miller lol

Neither do we but one of these strategies is actually producing wins

Seems like a bad move to me. This was a shortsighted move in my opinion. A 2nd and a 3rd rounder for a player well past his prime. He is currently on the last year of his contract. They would have been able to get him for nothing during this offseason. It is only a good move for them if they win a Super Bowl. If he doesn't help them win a super bowl then they just gave up two high draft picks for a guy that either will be gone after this season or a guy they have to give a new contract to when they could have done the same thing anyways at the end of this year for nothing.

It's real but you can find ways around it up to a point. No team can sign any player they want without clearing room by releasing someone or restructuring a contract. That just pushes the money down the road. You can't keep doing that forever. Eventually it catches up to you.

I believe they have little draft capital anyways. But they find a way.
