this is good news cause we suck at the slot since the guy we brought in hasn't played up to par.

I remember being so pissed when the Rams signed Stafford. In hindsight would you rather be the Rams with superbowl win, Stafford on that ridiculous contract and those extremely constraining cap numbers, especially in light of his recent injury history, or be in the 49ers with no SB win, no Stafford, and the expectation of contention?

I'd rather have that ring right now.

I wouldn't. We have past Lombardi's. I love the expectation of ongoing successes.

True about past Lombardi's but its been almost 30 years since we've won it all. The expectation of success with no results to prove those expectations the past 30 years IMO is getting tiresome. Hence why I rather have the ring right now.

Yup I'll take a ring you can dead cap hit me for the next few years 100 m I don't care; we will survive it. The ring endures.

You don't seem to be surviving the last ring too well, so that theory is flawed. As much as I want to win, I like actually enjoying the 49ers again, weekly. The idea of saying well at least we won a ring in 2021 isn't going to cut it for me after the first year.

Furthermore, I can't fathom how watching football could ever be fun with that kind of mindset. Most teams will never win and the small amount that do, it still doesn't occur with any regularity. I don't think Bucs fans give a rats a$$ about 2020 at this point and will be ready to fire their coach after one more bad season.

Yeah, too many fans only care about the championships. I love them too - the 1994 team was when I was 15 and will likely always be my favorite 49er team - but I also love the 2011, 2019 and 2022 teams even though they didn't win it all. A huge part of that is week-to-week those teams were a blast to watch. 2023 looks to be a fun team to watch every week. When you have that many likeable good players it should be entertaining while it's happening instead of just if the biggest goal is met at the end. Jerry Rice was just as fun to watch in the non-SB winning years as the 3 times they did win it all in his 16 seasons with the team.

Exactly. Football.is supposed to be enjoyable. I can't imagine how they find the game enjoyable if its Super Bowl or bust.

On another note, I watched the Rams press conference and saw one fan saying our fanbase was bragging about a game we almost lost. And here I thought we were delusional at times.

So then I guess bust.

Pretty sure everyone wants that elusive 6th ring. But obviously the odds of it happening in any given year are pretty small no matter how good you think you are.

Imagine being a Chicago Cubs fan in baseball and wondering if you will ever see a championship in your lifetime. Fans today did finally see one in 2016 or whichever year it was. Went to high school with a guy who was amazed he saw it happen once in his lifetime.

Or a Marlins fan who won two of them and if memory serves proceeded to have fire sales both times immediately after that.

Not always a lot easier as a Reds fan.

Best any organization can do in any sport is try to assemble a roster that can realistically compete for that year in and year out. The 49ers have done that right now.

Anything short of that, I guess don't waste your time watching or be a bandwagon fan of the flavor (s) of the month.

Not necessarily directed at you personally but if it fits

We are just never going to agree on the matter if that's the case. When the team is as good as it is, and has been from 2011 to now, there's absolutely zero excuse why the 49ers don't have another trophy in the case. Some fans are complacent with just making 6 NFC Championships and 2 Super bowls, with nothing to show for it, but Im not As a 49ers fans who was only alive for 1 Super Bowl win but not old enough to comprehend it. Watching this team fall painfully short year after year has been very frustrating to me and leaves me completely burned out as a fan. Sure it would be a great problem to have if you were a Browns, Lions, or Dolphins fan. Doesn't make it any less painful when seeing other teams that have been either very lucky or more or less as stacked as the Harbaugh/Shanahan Niners reap all the rewards, while this team hasn't won a damn thing in 29 years

ive seen everything from this franchise, from highest(minus the trophy) to the absolute lowest. Just waiting on the trophy to cap it off

I agree with you.

I was alive for all 5 Super Bowls, and actively watched from SB 23 on. I saw a solid decade plus of high end Niner football as an annual contender, and yet I share this sentiment of frustration that started up once we lost to the Giants in 2011 NFC Championship game.

We'll get the job done I think, and then the world will be good again.
One can be entertained by the journey even when it comes up short and also be simultaneously disappointed in not winning it all. These are not the all or nothing concepts some like to suggest they are. If the only enjoyment one can find is when the clock strikes 00:00 in the Super Bowls with the Niners having won then that seems like a waste of your time to bother ever watching at all. That means that aside from 5 seconds in all of 49er history it was all a terrible misuse of everyone's time.

This is all I'm saying.
And these teams that go all in and then themselves bust after that, even if they win a championship, I can't imagine it would be very enjoyable in the long term. Maybe the Rams recover a bit this year if Stafford stays healthy. They certainly haven't played that poorly. But last year was a dumpster fire, Donald won't be there probably a lot longer and Stafford almost literally seems like an old quarterback. And Kupp seems to be getting banged up more regularly. So there will be things to address.

We kind have gone all in at times, to an extent. Trading for Dee Ford, for Jimmy G, for Emmanuel Sanders, for CMC. But we have been able to build and maintain a great core roster thus far without selling the farm or buying pieces in an all or nothing mode.

We all want that 6th ring but I kind of had to laugh last year when I would see Rams fans mock us by showing pictures of a ring or trophy and say we always had to live in the past as their present season clearly spiraled straight into the dumpster.

So like I said, for now still at least, we are in the conversation for a Lombardi every single year. Won't stay that way of course. But right now we are. And that's still a fun place to be.

Yes, and without any kind of heartbreak, cannot enjoy the wins quite as much.

It's time to win it all FFS.......the amount of disrespect and s**t talk from fans needs to go away.

Niners win a chip this season, and suddenly the last decade of disappointment can be correctly categorized as great football (as it should be regardless), and a more recent SB victory than all other 31 teams.

Thats one of the most interesting things with a single Super Bowl win. It puts us in front of everyone not named the Chiefs because of all of the other deep playoff runs. It's the difference between being the 70s Raiders or the 70s Rams. 90s 49ers or Packers verses 90s Bills. Perspective is interesting.
Puka Nacua has 501 yards after 4 games! What?

His production will dip a bit when Kupp returns.
These turds wishing injury on cmc on rams on demand forum. Disgusting. I've notice all the old fart rams fans are truly disgusting humans. Wouldn't surprise me if most are chomos.

Yeah. McCaffrey needs to get dinged up for us to be able to beat them. I know most of you don't wish injuries on enemy players but ....

Just think if McCaffrey was out for the season. Oh how wonderful that would be. And throw in a banged up Deebo and now we're talking!
