BTW, there's a better than decent chance that the only thing the Rams will have to play for in Week 17 is maintaining the #3 seed vs. dropping to #4. If you're #4 and #3 also wins, you get to play Philly in the divisional round as opposed to what appears to be a stronger Minnesota team. Do you merely act like you're trying to win the Niners game so as to not motivate Philly (not to mention your wild card opponent) but still try to lose it nevertheless?

You'd either have to eventually play Minnesota anyway or you'd have to travel to New Orleans and you'd be giving up the chance at playing the NFC Championship at home if you somehow got past Minnesota in the divisional.

BTW, you can tell I don't think Philly has much of a chance against the Rams or the Saints.

You are correct. Only difference win or lose next week for Rams is whether or not we get seed 3 or 4.

However, seed 3 is needed to potentially host the NFC championship. I expect the Rams will play to win.

#4 seed can also host the NFCCG if #6 seed makes it there.

Wow, I just visited the Rams boards, man it looks like the old rivalry with them is heating up!

Niners will always top the list. I hate, hate, hate, hate that team. They could be the worst team in the league playing the Patsies, and I'd still want them to lose. The championships Montana, Rice, et/al snagged back when Dickerson was in his prime... we woulda had our first ring without that stinkin' Niners team in the '80's.

Seagulls next, because their coach was a rule-breaking b*****d when he was at USC, and then he left them to suffer the consequences while he got PAID to jump back to the NFL. Plus they're a bunch of cocksure b*****ds.

I ... just don't have it in me to hate the Cards. Kurt almost won them a super bowl. Can't hate Kurt, ever. In any given year, if the Rams can't win the NFC West, I'll reflexively pull for AZ.

Oh, and I can't stand Dallas. I chose the Rams in 4th grade (1977) when all the other kids were picking the Cowboys. And I stuck with my team. Thick and thin, baby.

That thread will make things interesting if the Rams advance to the SB against hated NE/PITT....

It's amazing how much Niner hatred is retained in other fan bases. I guess it would be similar to how long the Seahawk hate would take to subside to the point where this is no hatred........at this point I imagine it's possible but will take a long time. Definitely would take the departure of Sherman, Wilson, Thomas, Jimmy Graham, Bennett, Chancellor and maybe a few other guys. Basically the Carroll stink would have to be gone, and him as well of course.

The Seahawks denied the 49ers a trip to SB 48, so I guess that's why we'll hate them (among the annoying games we had 2012-2015). It was the manner of how we lost to them and the a***** players they have that makes me have hatred for them. If Montana and Brady are the 1a/1b candidates for GOAT, Wilson (and Eli Manning) are 1a/1b for LOAT (Luckiest).

What did we ever do to the Rams except be a superior football team? FWIW, I cannot recall the Niners facing the Rams in the playoffs outside of '89.....so besides the 50/50 split in the regular season, other teams took down the Rams in the playoffs ultimately....or they missed it entirely.

So what I see is trophy envy, but not a true hate based on getting f'd on a controversial call or a catastrophic turnover. Come back when you lose a playoff game over a super lucky fumble......idiots.

Eagles are/were my #1 NFC side team going into this playoff race. Vikings would be #2.....and then the rest is whatever.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Niner hate from Eagles & Vikings fans.......

Or is it Iggles fans and Viqueens? Lambs, Aints, Kittens??

Ideally it's KC over all.....JAX #2 despite the cockiness of that team.

Soon it won't matter anymore.....it will be The JG Show and everyone else can f*** off!!

Teams and fan bases are just feeling each other out right now after two+ decades of the prodigal STL sojourn that shouldve never happened

It'll take something controversial like one team knocking out the other out of playoff contention, a dubious circumstances injury or multiple plundering of each other's players to truly reignite the rivalry...the TNF game this year was a prelude

In a couple weeks we get JG vs JG Episode I which hopefully becomes the next Brady vs Manning

It's not going to take anything at all - Rams fans hate the Niners. I expect a decent rivalry will be right back in action next year. Niners looking good.

I Rarely If ever go to other boards but someone has a link on our game day page.. sorry I don't have that on here..

Yea.. they hate us lol bad!

And initially I was maybe ok with them winning one, after reading what the fans were writing, ummmmm I now hope they lose in the 1st playoff game they play after losing to us on Sunday

Niners were simply the superior team but 49ers players back then did not hesitate to rub it in. "It's Rams week!!"

I totally agree.

I think the hate comes from the 49er Standard of Excellence. People with high standards (and teams) will always be hated and envied because it makes the average fans and teams look lazy and incompetent. Nothing drives an average person more crazy than sitting next to a guy/gal with high standards of excellence. I mean look at how many Hall of Fame QB's this franchise has - Tittle, Montana, Young and soon to be Jimmy GQ. How can you be a Ram fan and not *hate* that! The Class Nerd with straight A's, is that person drives everyone else in his class batty, and when a guy like Bill Gates rules the world, it drives them even crazier! I really look forward to all the opposing fans showing up on our boards and trolling, it's going to be fun again! Man I can't wait to be the first franchise to get 7 Lombardi's!

I liked Dickerson but any team qb'd by Chrissie Everett can F off when talking about winning a ring in the 80's.

Rams were kings of the NFCW in the 70's and before the merger/Super Bowl era were usually the best NFL team west of the Mississippi...then the Niners had their epic dynasty and basically chased their asses out of CA

...all they had to show for their initial 49-year tenure in LA was one SB appearance & and an NFL title

It'd be like if seattle kept making the playoffs and winning trophies with Carroll multiplied by a thousand times

The Rams are resting starters; the niners are finally healthy for the first time this season. This is a trap game for the 49ers.

Agreed, but it sure as hell is built to shut down Wilson.

It's a good enough defense to stop limited passers.

Glad that's no longer a relevant thing now.
