The Brady comment was serious? No Edelman, no Hogan, and Cooks still couldn't be the man.

My prediction?

Rams will be either very good or 2011 Eagles. Why is it whenever the 49ers get good one of our division rivals come out of no where and turn elite?

Rams gave up a first for cooks. Goff needs the help.

Truly Super Bowl or bust even more. Taking a homerun swing for it all.

Jesus a 1st round pick for Cooks. Now I wouldn't believe any of the trade rumors of Gronk or OBJ coming here price is too steep and this regime is a patient one. Build through draft, supplement through FA. It is one thing to bring a guy or 2 in to try to get over the hump but Rams are going all in on Goff who only has one good
Rams are not builing for long term.
I think this bodes well for 49ers longevity in the division. With Jimmy G looking to be a franchise QB, some young guys starting to emerge, and a patient approach to draft and free agency that gets you good, young, cheap talent, and keeps the salary cap in check,
Seattle is basically rebuilding or reloading whatever term they are using but even so so will be middle of pack team as long as Wilson is QB
Rams draft picks can't be that great in future drafts considering Goff, Talib, Watkins, Peters, Cooks all required picks to get. Not sure I get the all in approach with 2nd year HC and 3rd year QB why they are mortgaging future to win now when it looks like the window is just opening.
Arizona new coach, no QB, and not a high enough draft pick this year to get a marquee QB without giving up picks- basically a rebuild here.

49ers will be fine, Rams gonna have to pay up real soon, not gonna be cheap. Lots of alphas on that team now.

I respect the Rams' aggression. They're not sacrificing the future really, either. Maybe cap-wise (not sure where they're at) but NFL is "NOT FOR LONG"...if your window is now, attack it with everything you have to try to get a ring.
The Niners approach is good, but I'd have liked to see them get a different guy or two in the offseason. We'll see what the draft holds and if they can swing any trades but SF still has needs at G, LB, EDGE, WR, SECONDARY, and could stand another RB. Felt like they coulda nabbed another player in FA.
I think the best approach is somewhere between the Rams and Niners.

The rams have dominated the offseason to this point there is no doubt about that, regardless of how much anyone criticizes their additions.
I watched every Pats game last year. You can say he was huge as part of the scheme but he left a ton of big plays on the board with big drops and idiotic plays. It was a great trade for the Pats.
Cooks may very well add a big dimension to the Rams with his deep speed but we'll see if Goff can get him the ball.

Rams are a lot further into their rebuild than we are, so if anything, they are us during our most recent championship contention, and we're looking like Seattle. About a year or two behind them. Worked out for Seattle, and hopefully it will for us.
They're going to have to cut half of these guys by the time Goff and Gurley are ready for a new deal. They're also going to have to pay big for Donald, so I can only see this sustaining for 1-2 years.

They are potentially though. They don't pick til late 3rd round now. Pats did this last year but they already had a ton of home grown talent and Brady/Belichick but if you're not bringing up top level talent via the draft and have some huge contracts coming up it could explode very quickly.
Donald, Gurley, Peters, Goff, Cooks and others are up for contracts within the next 3 years.

They are trading away draft picks. That is sacrificing your future. Then again Les Snead has been a horrible drafter so why not?
I think if everyone had just received an alert on their phones that the 49ers had acquired Cooks, most would have been happy as long as it did not include the #9 pick in this year's draft. I don't think of his as a true #1 but he probably is at high to mid #2. That being said, the Rams may be "winning the off-season" but it is going to cost them on down the line. Despite winning the division and going to the playoffs, the Rams attendance declined last year after the initial curiosity of the Rams return to L.A. wore off and everyone realized how bad a venue the L.A. Colosseum is for NFL football. So, they need to get the momentum going as they proceed with the building of the new stadium and that's what they are clearly doing with all of these trades and signings focused on the short term, not the long term.
Their best player is in the last year of his rookie deal and the Rams just set the floor for him at $14 million by signing Suh.
Cooks is in the last year of his contract.
Peters is in the last year of his contract. They can exercise his 5th year option but his cap hit goes from $1.7 million to about $9.5 million if they do.
Gurley is in the last year of his contract. The Rams can pick up his 5th year option but his cap hit goes from approx. $4.4 million to $9.68 million if they do.
Suh signed a one year deal for $14 million.
Goff will start getting more expensive after the 2019 season when his 4 year deal runs out and the Rams have to exercise his 5th year option.
They are not ultimately going to be able to sign everyone and not having the traded away top picks is going to come back and hurt them.
It feels like they are pushing all their chips to the middle of the table to try to capture the LA market and get to a SB before Donald and their other stars start to get expensive. They have put themselves in a good position as long as Goff doesn't implode, but if they don't win in 2018 or 2019 at the latest, they likely have shortened their window.

Like they needed anything else. The Rams are clearly the unchallenged best in the West and have put themselves up there with Minnesota, Philadelphia, and the Saints as the 3 powers of the NFC and either team will be favorites to win the SB over whoever the AFC brings to the party.
Cooks brings serious speed to the Rams that will make the best offensive talent in the game Todd Gurley even more dangerous
