They certainly are not effing around, but I am not a fan of the hurry up. They have issues on the way. Big ones.

I don't think of his as a true #1 but he probably is at high to mid #2. That being said, the Rams may be "winning the off-season" but it is going to cost them on down the line. Despite winning the division and going to the playoffs, the Rams attendance declined last year after the initial curiosity of the Rams return to L.A. wore off and everyone realized how bad a venue the L.A. Colosseum is for NFL football. So, they need to get the momentum going as they proceed with the building of the new stadium and that's what they are clearly doing with all of these trades and signings focused on the short term, not the long term.
Their best player is in the last year of his rookie deal and the Rams just set the floor for him at $14 million by signing Suh.
Cooks is in the last year of his contract.
Peters is in the last year of his contract. They can exercise his 5th year option but his cap hit goes from $1.7 million to about $9.5 million if they do.
Gurley is in the last year of his contract. The Rams can pick up his 5th year option but his cap hit goes from approx. $4.4 million to $9.68 million if they do.
Suh signed a one year deal for $14 million.
Goff will start getting more expensive after the 2019 season when his 4 year deal runs out and the Rams have to exercise his 5th year option.
They are not ultimately going to be able to sign everyone and not having the traded away top picks is going to come back and hurt them.
It feels like they are pushing all their chips to the middle of the table to try to capture the LA market and get to a SB before Donald and their other stars start to get expensive. They have put themselves in a good position as long as Goff doesn't implode, but if they don't win in 2018 or 2019 at the latest, they likely have shortened their window.
Great post. Nancies need to read this every morning when they wake up and every night before they go to sleep.

Man the next decade will be rams vs. niners. It's possible that they could surpass the hatred we have for the seahawks by a wide margin, especially since they're in LA now.

Jared Goff, 100.5 QB rating. Jimmy Garoppolo, 96.2 QB rating.
I mean the dude threw for 21 more TDs than Garoppolo, but only 2 more ints and you guys act like he sucks.
Goff definitely doesn't suck but you must be trolling actually posting those numbers to compare the two....
Lol right, comparing a full season to 5 games
worse comparison I've ever seen.

DUMB... set up for easy success / immediate failure.
I hope we meet them in the playoffs. Goff / McVay scare no one in the playoffs!!
Shanny can scheme well on any defense, especially theirs. Our own defense is steadily coming together.
There are a lot of moves that can happen between now and the regular season. Barring injuries (as many as last year), we should be just fine.

Bill Walsh also thought it was a good idea to draft Giovanni Carmazzi. No ones perfect.

I think, the Main reasons, the 49ers did not act so aggressively in FA are:
1. Shanahan thinks „he can scheme open" a receiver. He said this, I think on Sound FX
2. Lynch knows a little bit about DBs and did not too many players worth going for
3. Our defense is coming together und I hope (!) / think that DeFo will be very dominant this year. We do not need Suh, especially that the FO and Shanahan look for „high character" guys..
4. We have to pay our talented young players, so keep the money together.
Hopefully, we have a good Draft (I like Davenport) and it will all work out.

He also had a profound belief that Rick Mirer was the next Joe...
Just goes to show he didn't bat a 1.000 all the time, but he was always more right than wrong...

Bill Walsh build through the draft. Don't think he'd be throwing away picks on a small window like this.

People forget that at the end of the day we were a 6-10 team who needed a 5 game winning streak to get there.
We haven't proven anything yet so going all in at this point isn't smart. Last year expectations were minuscule. This year with the Rams going all dream team maybe they've been knocked down a bit but people still expect us to be playoff contenders with some people picking us to go deep in the playoffs.
Can we have another great draft to fill out the still numerous holes? Can Jimmy keep the magic going? Can we play well with higher expectations and teams taking us seriously?
I sure hope so. I really hope we hear some good news on the Foster front and the NFL suspension isn't too drastic. That our rookie class from last year comes back hungrier and a lot more ready to play.
We need Solomon to come back with a huge step up similar to what Buckner did and other guys who didn't explode as rookies. If he and Buckner come back much better than last year I think our DL could turn into a dominant force especially if we add a guy like Harold Landry to it to complement their power from the other side.
Need Foster out there, staying healthy and out of trouble. Ahkello and Colbert being our version of Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman.
Need Kittle and his bff Trent Taylor to keep getting open and making big plays for Jimmy.
I love our rookie class from last year and think they can be a great building block for this team. We need another draft like it to really move to the next level though.
If this team shows up big and we fall short then maybe then we can be more aggressive in FA and trades.
