Yeah that is about right. I can easily see them sweeping the NFC West or no worse losing 1 game to a division foe late in the season.Originally posted by Stud:I see the Rams going 13-3. But possibly choking in the playoffs. Losing to the Falcons last year, they played like they were shell-shocked. You can tell most of them never played in the playoffs before.

This is a rams thread, not a thread about the niners. Beyond that, paper tiger is typically reserved for dream teams like the Rams who make a perceived run by signing a bunch of big names. They are paper champs until proven otherwise. It's not hard to understand

And btw I never "called out anyone for not watching games" If you reread what I actually posted all I said was if you watched the games you can tell he's a difference maker, which any expert will tell you is true. Why do you think so many people think the outcome of the super bowl might've been different had he not been knocked out with a concussion so early?? Because he's a difference maker, end of story.
TO dropped passes but he also balled out all over the field. Cooks is not a receiver who can play all over and do whatever the way TO could. And for a guy who is used for quick hitters or deep balls...catching the ball is pretty key.
Talented kid but not elite. We'll see what he does with the Rams with Goff throwing to him instead of Brady and Brees. For all we know after the hit he took in the SB he could be tentative out there on the field.
Elite = HOF material. TO is just that. Cooks is not, and he definitely won't sniff HOF, especially now that Goff will be passing to him

This. Rams and their neophyte LA fan base (a lot of whom are more worried about going back to their blue and yellow unis than the team's actual roster) are setting themselves up ripe to have their dreams and season shattered....this team has a fragile psyche that I don't foresee withstanding prolonged adversity: their young coach has burnout written all over him, their QB still has to prove he can make reads at the LOS and go beyond being Alex Smith 2.0, and they signed/traded for several dubious character guys, giving away draft picks like candy...they have to play a first place schedule the top 3 other teams in the NFC this season (PHI, MIN, and NO) 2/3rds of whom they lost to last season (they beat the Saints but will have to travel to NO in 2018). Of their 5 losses last season, two teams with great defenses held them to 10 and 7 pts respectively (Seattle in October and Minny) while the eagles edged them out in that shootout in December. Now they've placed an even more bigger target on their backs with this self-sought offseason champions persona they have going....it serves the Niners well as LA gets to be the lightning rod for all the hype in the NFCW while SF can be the darkhorse early in the season that can ambush LA and other teams...

Seems like the Rams are shortening their window for a higher % chance at the title. Couple of things to consider about the LA Rams....
They almost HAVE to do these moves to try and get LA excited about their new football team. It lined up perfectly for them with cap space and Goffs emergence to make these moves to leverage their future this off-season. It makes sense that they need to do everything they can from a franchise perspective to get more people in the seats and theyve done a great job of that by becoming a favorite for the NFC title game.
But dont get it twisted, while they have a good window of opportunity they are only shortening it. They just gave up a 2nd for a 1 year rental of Sammy Watkins. Now a first for a 1 year rental of Cooks until if/when they work out a long term deal. Without one, they shelled out a 1st and a 2nd round pick for two one year rentals and no guarantee the player will stay in the future.. and these are the moves some zoners want the niners to do in response to the rams?
They need to hype a fanbase in LA that doesnt give much of a sh*t about football, the only way to do that over the summer is to become the champion of the off-season. Will they have a great team? Of course! But there is allot of risk, by putting themselves in a position of having to nail each draft for lower contracts and depth. Then manage all the egos on that defense with the ultimate players coach Wade Phillips. And by player coach I mean a defensive genius who eventually lets his players walk all over him to the point he cant keep a steady gig even with a stellar resume.

What they did makes a ton of sense business wise but football wise it's a huge risk. We'll see if it pays off.

What a master of the obvious article that debates a narrative that doesnt actually exist. Its not that they have a short window, its that the moves they are making are potentially shortening the window they have. At the end of the day would they be in a better position if they still had that 2nd round pick they traded for Watkins? If they cant sign Cook long term, ya think they might be better off with that first round pick? Which are even more valuable now because of the additional year option of rookie salary.
The FA acquisitions are smart since they have the cap space for a bunch of one year rentals and they are big names to try and get the LA fanbase to games. It doesnt negate talent or their potential success to point out that there was also a reason teams wanted to move on from those big names.
They are the second youngest team in the NFL with ample space and a QB on a rookie contract... they got a good 3-4 years minimum of being at the top of the NFC if Goff stays healthy and continues his trajectory. Doesnt take away from the fact that these moves are also upping the pressure to continue to draft well or end up being the current Seahawks in a few years if they have a couple bad drafts. Their window isnt closing but their margin for error definitely is.

I mean the dude threw for 21 more TDs than Garoppolo, but only 2 more ints and you guys act like he sucks.
Goff definitely doesn't suck but you must be trolling actually posting those numbers to compare the two....
Lol right, comparing a full season to 5 games
worse comparison I've ever seen.
All I know is that Goff had one s**t season and a season where he simply did long hand-offs to Gurley.
It is not very difficult to decipher. Gurley ran for 1305 and received for 788. In the playoff game vs ATL, Gurley only had 10 yards receiving and had 101 yards rushing. Teams will figure out how to slow Gurley down in the pass-game and then Goff will be done when he is required to throw to tighter situations.
