Aaron Donald is a RARE breed. He and Mack reset the market but they have their own market. Buckner plays inside. Those are much cheaper contracts. It's not like every DT is suddenly going to make what Aaron Donald made. These aren't QB's.
From a business standpoint, it makes sense to sit on him for two years and then work out a contract extension then. If you can't reach an agreement, THEN franchise tag him which will still only be $16M+ tops.
Agree with you sir. People need to put down the fan goggles for a second and look at this as a business.
