Defo said his agent is talking to the Niners which probably means he wants to get paid/extended. Don't cause a toxic relationship because we have control for two years. Why are people so hung up him getting paid for whatever? Are the Niners strapped for cash? Is it your money you're paying him?

Why? We did the same thing with Armstead and Ward, two other first round picks and they probably would have done the same with Foster. It's just business. Who knows where the team will be at in 2-3 years. No rush. This is just business. You can still meet with his agent and start talking about the long term plan and start setting up parameters. Buckner is a top 10 paid rookie. He ain't starving.

I'm not. I'm showing you proof of how FO's managed first round contracts. We moved up in the first to get Garnett for the simple fact we get his 5th year option which should be cheaper in the grand scheme of things BEFORE you make that big pay out.

Also - Garoppolo and Buckner are not even remotely close situations. Only similarity is the team.

Garoppolo plays the most premium position in sports, had a mere 7 game sample size, was only on the roster for three months and only had two tags at the team's disposal.

None of those things apply to Buckner.
