Lol
We constantly are a losing team that signs mid level free agents and are consistently one of the top teams with the most salary caps while other teams seem to win consistently and still have money to bring in FA's.
Seems to me other teams have just as good or better "contract guys"..

I'm not sure why this is stated all the time..

Paraag isnt a scout, hes a contract guy. His job is to manage the teams contracts and payroll. Whether or not the players we sign are worth the money isnt his responsibility. His job is to make sure we don't spend irresponsibly. We're consistently a top 3 cap health team.

We hoard our Cap.
Not hard to manage a cap when you don't spend it.

I really don't understand the praise he gets, but go ahead.

This and the record accurately reflects the spending and cap room. The team sucks because it lacks talent.

We gave McKinnon and Richburg some of the richest contracts at their positions (although we can basically cut McKinnon this year with almost no hit the way his contract is structured), signed Richard Sherman to an extremely team friendly deal, gave our QB $100 mill.

How much do you expect them to spend in one off season? We suck because our drafts have sucked for 4 years not because we're not signing enough players.

What I want is irrelevant. I was just pointing out that our cap situation accurately reflects the talent on the roster. We spend less than most teams and our record reflects that. Drafting like s**t also hurts but it saves us cap room because we don't have to spend a lot of money to retain our free agents.
We do not have enough good players whether they are drafted or signed as FAs.

That's definitely true. I was speaking more to the "we hoard our cap" statement by Jeepzilla

So we don't hoard cap money!!??
Lol
Ok
We are at the tops for cap space pretty much every year and have been for many years, but we don't hoard cap money.

We had to pay jimmy and if not jimmy then Kirk, because our front office sadly isn't able to pick a franchise QB in the draft.

We don't know if our overpaid fullback (sorry, offensive weapon), our overpaid RB that can catch, will work Out.
Always shocked that Kyle overpays offensive players like this when his system gets fantastic numbers out of a lot of different players.
I could see overpaying for a pass rusher or O-Line to protect Jimmy G. But not for some offensive plug and play guys.

Let's hope we have a successful 10-11 win this 2019

It has nothing to do with who we spend it on or how much we give out. It has to do with manipulating the numbers within the NFL rules to minimize risk.

Remember the "salary cap hell" years? We've never been in that position since Paraag started working our cap. He is constantly working outs into deals to protect the team from financial issues. The 49ers gave Kap a TON, and he worked it so we could basically cut Kap before every league year and have no dead money. He reworks veteran deals almost every year to maximize our short term without killing our long term.

Theres a ton that he brings to the table regardless of how much money we spend. Just because we didn't blow half our cap space on Allen Robinson or Kelechi Osemele doesn't mean hes had nothing to do.

THANK you! Finally someone who gets it! I feel like many of these 9er fans are either too young or too new to remember those "salary cap hell" days by some of the comments they make. I have a couple of friends who continuously say "spend spend spend" but can't tell me what guys they would have spend it on. Allen Robinson? No thanks. Sure I don't want us to be cheap but Kyle is getting the guys he wants, it's not like money has prevented him from getting his guys. The structuring of contracts is essential to our team remaining flexible down the line. It may not seem like much now, but WHEN we are contenders again (minus injuries I think we are on our way) this strategy will prove valuable when we can get "final piece" guys other winning teams can't afford.
BTW... Congrats 2 DEFO the GREAT you underrated beast you! 🙌🏽
I feel this way about Buckner (minus LEO).

"Salary Cap Hell"

Name the teams in salary cap hell now days please.

I'm 49 in May. been watching this team since I was 10.
Yes I remember salary cap hell.

All teams know how to manipulate the cap and if they don't, then they are 10 years behind the times.
There are so many ways to structure contracts now days it's juat not happening anymore.

Good try though.

They don't hoard cap. The reason our cap numbers are so high on a year to year basis is because none of the players from 2010 to 2015 have gotten second contracts to eat up said cap space. Conversely this is why we were constantly up against the cap from 2011 to 2014. We had players we actually had to resign to large deals because the team had drafted well. The FO just doesnt want to build the team entirely through free agency, as they want to build the team through the draft. (although the idea that they aren't willing to sign free agents is severely over-exagerated by some). Thus they roll over the cap and are attempting to draft and develop. Dont be surprised to see that cap number start to dwindle in a couple years when guys like buckner, warner, breida, and kittle start to get second contracts.

Can this team get to be a contender while being near the bottom of the league in spending? I do not believe they can and I am skeptical that Lynch is capable of drafting the team into contention.

you need to draft well and make clever use of free agency. problem is lynch has made major errors in drafting and some of the guys he has brought in to compliment the draft like your malcom smith and garcon have been crap

If he picks another interior lineman with a top 10 pick he should be fired on the spot.
