People acting like extending Buckner is just a matter of Lynch deciding to do it.

Most are forgetting... it may not be beneficial for Buckner to do a deal right now.

Niners hold all the cards right now. Buckner may want to wait, put a 15 sack season on tape, not wait for people to drop out of the Pro Bowl to make it, and then cash in.

The ONLY reason Buckner would sign a deal now is to protect against injury.

I think i am ready to take Nick Bosa.

After all this thinking on what we should take, whether we should take another DL or not since we got Dee Ford.

Clear answer is yes. If he's there we take him. Solidify this DL even more.

Good man!

This...his camp has a motive too. But we have control of him for 3-4 more years and the IDL market is set about as high as it's going to get. Somewhere down the road, he'll get $18-20M. No biggie.

Don't forget about Day and Street. They could possibly disrupt the gameday starting roster or be part of a trade package. So let's just "wait and see".

Day is a base down 1 tech and although I like him ultimately a JAG.

My assumption with Street since they drafted him is that they're hoping he's AA's replacement after this year.

Someone's been listening to the John Chapman podcast.

No dumb idea. We need to stop moving players out of their natural position.

Agreed, keep DeFo at the 3T/DT spot, draft Bosa to be the other DE opposite Dee Ford, with AA/ST inside with Buckner.

I find it a little hard to believe that lynch or Kyle didn't have the authority to "make" the DC or position coach play S Thomas in his natural position the last 2 years, and playing him on the edge and stunting his growth his 1st two years should have been stopped after year one.

So Can I ask what makes you believe that they will play S Thomas in his natural position now?

Also, someone in the FO had to be involved in transforming him to a leaner physique.

It'll be interesting to see how Kocurek uses Thomas and Buckner. Might be interesting to see them in a wide 9 alignment from time to time. Both have great closing speed if they can get free. Not sure if their technique is enough for one on one matchups though. Seems like they tend to capitalize on OL breakdowns and miscommunications. Might need to improve handwork.

If I'm DeFo I play 2019 and rack up another double digit sack season playing with Ford and rookie DL guy. Then CHA CHING!

Yup, significantly less than what his APY will be on a new deal. That's the advantage of keeping him inside vs. moving him to the edge. $$$$

Donald set the bar so high, I don't see any other IDL resetting the market. After the 5th year, then pay him his $18-20M APY.

I'm ok with that depending on cap room we can still extend in 2020 and have him on a paraag special lol.
