DeForest Buckner Traded to the Colts

I'll admit, DeFo didn't have a splashy game. And I do think he's overrated by a lot of people on here. But here's the thing: He doesn't need to be BY or Stubby—not with the new D-line we have. Even if he just plays solid, he will get opportunities to flash because there is simply too much talent on the front for everyone to be blocked consistently. If Ford or Bosa have a slow game, it's entirely possible that someone like DeFo or Arik will have a huge one.

I feel an extension coming this season for DeFo.
I would have the rewatch the game, but pretty sure DeFo was getting most of the double teams yesterday. Definitely was a quiet game from him, and I expect him to beat double teams quite often as well, but Bosa and Ford were often getting pressures because they were getting one-on-ones versus the tackles. Soon or later, when they start sliding protection out to either Ford or Bosa, you'll start seeing more of DeFo.

That said. There is a reason why actual NFL players don't think he is a top 100 player. It's games like yesterday. This dude gets called "great" and "elite" wayyyyyy too much for it to be in touch with reality. Yes, he flashes elite skills...occasionally. He does nothing "elite" consistently. Taking on double teams is not enough to warrant a $18M+/year contract. Words like "great" and "elite" have to mean something. Truly elite players don't go missing as consistently as DeForest Buckner.

This isn't just about one game yesterday. His inability (unwillingness?) to bring consistent great performances to the table has happened his entire career.

Our "star" defensive player's thread fell to the 3rd page the day after the team's standout defensive performance.

He is good, sometimes very good. Not great. Not elite. Good.

12 sacks and a Pro Bowl
Second best DT in the NFL

Who cares about what page his thread is on? He is the best player on the team.

This is the zone...If a players thread drops to page 3 it's because he's doing things right and not giving people a reason to whinge.

Keep doing what you're doing Buck, the team's better for it.

Umm, DeFo plays all 4 Quarters, and he is a Superstar.

Is he? Really? Have we lost all meaning of the word "superstar"?

Nobody outside SF even knows he is alive.

Defo is definitely a star idk about superstar, he's not a pass rusher he's a DT so don't expect him to be applying pressure all the time especially facing double teams. Half his job if not the majority is to make sure he plugs his gap

Been awhile since we rush 4 and got this...Defo taking a double team looks like--or smelling a screen.

Pro Bowl... replacement.

And, he's def not.
You guys who are doggin Buckner are ridiculous. He had a better year last year than Bryant Young ever had. I guess that Young wasn't a star? Buckner is a top tier defensive player in the NFL, that top 100 b******t is about as meaningful as the pro bowl.

Yeah. DTs can have good games and not get in the stat box. I was watching a bit of the Rams Panthers game and Donald only had 1 tackle he got in the 4th quarter. One of the best DTs of all time. DTs effect the game in non obvious ways.

Who are the better defensive tackles in the NFL, which of those DTs are elite defensive tackles?

Who is better on the 49ers?

What's the difference between a -2 yard sack and a -2 yard tackle for loss?
1 fantasy point
