Dam just made me realize Garland will be partially responsible for Donald. Man that's not good.
Buckner is a damn fine football player, people need to stop hating imo. Just because he doesn't put up crazy sack numbers does not mean he isn't a great player. Yes he's not Donald, but Donald is by himself in a class of one. Dude is destined to get a Gold Jacket if he stay healthy and keeps it up. Was Justin Smith not a great player because he didn't put up double digits sacks year after year?

Stats are for loosers
All I see is Buckner being double teamed almost every snap.

I don't think anyone has said Buckner isn't great, he just isn't in the same class as Donald or Mack. I'll be very interested to see how the Niners treat the guaranteed money in his next contract. Dee Ford got 33m guaranteed, Frank Clark got 63m guaranteed, while Donald & Mack got close to 90m guaranteed. I'm guessing they try to keep the guarantees in the Frank Clark range...
Wouldn't be surprised if they let him play out next year and they tried to lock him up long-term or franchise him.

I think this is very possible. Why sign him this offseason? If anything -- he got cheaper this year. There is absolutely no rush to get an extension done with him. He is under enormous team control.

No one is even talking about sacks. We are talking about general disruption. Take Bosa for example. He doesn't even have 10 sacks this season, but he is all over the field pressuring the QB, blowing up plays, redirecting runs and so on. The funny thing is, they know he's coming, they just cant stop him.

Buck on the other hand does eat double teams, but for the most part he is neutralized. He's not splitting lineman, causing TFLs , shutting down the run or even collapsing pockets. Once in a while he'll do that, but not often.

I'm so sick of the "double team" argument. You don't think all great players are double and triple teamed? Yet, they find a way to impact the game and not just as a decoy or making it easier on everyone around them.

People will read this and call you a "hater". But this is the reality to anyone who watches him. He is a very good player. But not great.

Armstead is having a great year. Bosa is having a great year. Buckner is having a good year. It's not "hate" when you admit a player is good at their job.

My eyes don't lie. They know who Buckner is and he's accounted for every play. He's a phenomenal player. Sometimes he runs himself last a run, but that's a small issue imo. And yes it's illy to compare anyone to Donald. He's a beast and may single handidly destroy our game next week lol.
I'm just going to go ahead and address the elephant in the room. Deforest Buckner commands double teams and occasionally makes plays in the back field and is a integral part of our defense. Do we pay him Aaron Donald type money .... hell no !!!! I was sitting with a falcon fan yesterday watching the game and when I mentioned that we would be giving Buckner the big contract he said who??? Now mind you neither of us are football guru's but when nobody knows who the hell you are that says a lot. I would not break the bank for Buckner

Most non falcons fans would say who's Jarrett? They just gave him $68M

Fair enough, let's just compare seasons then....

Aaron Donald: https://www.google.com/search?q=Aaron+Donald+stats&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari

TOT: 43 ASS 16 SACKS 11

DeFo Buck: https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&hl=en-us&ei=Mfz3XZaxKNu4tQan9Iv4BQ&q=deforest+buckner+stats&oq=deforest+buckner+s&gs_l=mobile-gws-wiz-serp.1.0.0i67j0l2j46j0l4.33194.44678..46626...0.0..1.242.4788.6j28j2......0....1.......8..0i131i67j0i7i30j41j41i22i30j46i131i67i275j46i67j46i131i67j46i131j0i131i273j0i273.tB_LkPu09mA

TOT. 57 ASS. 26. SACKS 6.5

5 more sacks is great? How many has Buck lost to Bosa, Ford and Armstead this year?

Lol, tha frick outta here with Buck not being upper tier just because he's been quiete the past few games.

You can't look at this from a raw numbers perspective. When you get your sacks/pressure/tackles or tackles for a loss is just as important (if not more so) than the stats themselves. With that said, I'd still consider Buckner a top-5 DT. But I wouldn't call him a game wrecker. Bosa can wreck some games. So can Dee Ford. George Kittle is a game wrecker. Sherman is a game wrecker. These are guys that totally alter the course of what you want to do as an offense or defense. I don't see Buck in that category. With that said, both he and AA are going to be expensive. In terms of sack numbers, I think it will be harder for a guy like Buckner compared to last year. It isn't just the talent around him. Quarterbacks KNOW they have a small window of time to get rid of the ball. The smart ones will do just that and smart OCs will dial up plays to take advantage. I don't think we see a return to prominence until we get another speed rusher on the edge.

Most football fans don't know interior line guys anyway, on offense or defense. I wouldnt be surprised if "fans" said who at Quentin Nelson.

People know who Quentin Nelson is.... I like defo... If people will be honest... he's no where near great... we may have to pay because he's good... let's just be honest...mostly an important player...not a difference maker.... important because he's often double teamed... not a difference maker because he doesn't make game changing plays.
