DeForest Buckner Traded to the Colts

Here is my take on Buckner. He is not a "superstar" stat wise, but he makes up for it in so many ways. He doesn't miss games and is a top 5 49er.

Fans on here say he disappears during big games, but he had 1 sack vs Baltimore, 1/2 sack vs GB, 2 sacks vs Arizona(tough division game). He also had 3 sacks in 3 games in the beginning of the year.

Last year, dude was a one man wrecking crew with 12 sacks. How is that not a top player?

He doesn't have to be Donald or Watt to be an impact player on this team. Dude is consistently good. Kinda like a Frank Gore who just shows up to play and doesn't complain about anything.

I see a lot of guys jumping on the Buckner is overrated bandwagon, but I guess that's just human nature.

He is definitely a cornerstone on this Defense and we would be foolish to pay Armstead(who's only had one great year) over Buckner. I do hope we can keep both though, plus add another ER via the draft.

Dude does the dirty work and people cry about it. He's played a million snaps for this team and helped guys like AA/Bosa get the stats. I have no idea what people's issues are with him.

since coming into the NFL here are his numbers vs Fletcher cox....

It's amazing how so many people have gone from Buckner is our best defensive player to he sucks and he's inconsistent. Either they were really wrong last year or they're wrong this year. I'm guessing they're wrong this year.

Agreed. He plays a position where he's not gonna get stupid sack stats. Watt lines up outside a ton and Donald is just on a different planet. IF people are trying to compare him to Donald then that's there fault lol.

The great thing is they can pay both no problem. Both are talented AND young.

I wonder when coaches will start double teaming Bosa and AA? They seem to be wrecking havoc.

It's ridiculous really. All people look at are sacks and if he doesn't have double digit sacks every year he sucks. It's pathetic. There were several years where Bryant Young had 4-7 sacks on the year and he was still dominant.

Bosa was consistently applying pressure.

Agreed. I'm convinced half these dudes don't even watch the games. They just look at the stat lines....

bosa at 87.9 pff. obviously doing something right.

Buck has to be better at beating double teams. His height is his downfall as he rarely get leverage
