Buckner is worth it. How much he was doubled benefited others.

Shocked at 1st, but reality is every good player can't be retained. The compensation is as good as any team could hope for honestly for a 5th year player.
I see Armstead being moved to the 3 tech not Solly. Which is good for both Armstead and Bosa.
Now with the 13th pick the 49ers have options.
Cornerback is a major need. Not because Witherspoon and Moseley are bad, but because they plus Sherm are FA's next year.
OLine is also a need. Last year we had 2 backups to the backups start games. Fortunately they held their own, but there still was a drop off. Plus Staley is getting older and is McGlinchey going to be worth 18+ mill in a couple years?
Trading back to aquire picks seems most logical. With this team's roster though it's most important to acquire guys you have little to no doubt can make an impact on the team.
Just breathe and remember the ShanaLynch duo has taken a roster essentially devoid of talent and completely turned it over. Not only has most of the team been replaced they reached the SB in their 3rd year. Majority of teams/orgs/coaches have gone through plenty of "acquiring their guys" and haven't come close to sniffing the SB.
Ill miss Buck, but I trust that Kyle and John know what they're doing. They've already proved it.

Turrible move, you don't get rid of top talent! How did trading Haley work out?! Armstead is a one year wonder, take it to the bank!

Armstead has superstar potential. Buckner is just a very good player. This was a no brainer. Especially at $21M
Yes, but if Buckner was truly firm in his demand for $20 million-plus, as at least one report has indicated, then the 49ers realistically didn't have much of a choice. This allowed them to open up much-needed cap space AND get a first-round pick in return. https://t.co/zlC8IOxHky

lol what? Armstead had just been a run stuffer up until last year. I doubt he's anywhere near as effective without Buckner next to him. Buckner is the better and more proven player. We just chose Armstead because hes cheaper and couldn't net us the 13th overall pick.

I'm thinking the left tackle of the future at 13. Makes a lot of sense in a top heavy tackle draft.

I don't think it's just about next year though. We still have DJ Jones, Taylor and Ronald Blair, but either way we werent keeping this line together and this gave us a mid first which we can flip into a great player. It's one of those moves that great teams trying to stay great have to make. Tough decisions.

Dude just started to run at a leisurely pace.
I can't imagine we're going all-in on him right away...

I will say this, Armstead had a better year than Buckner.

This. He realistically had one good year and that was of course his contract year. Buck had been a force since day 1. Easy choice Buck over AA. Don't agree with the FO on this one at all.

I can't believe I'm saying this...
...but this was the right move. It hurts. But it was the right move.

Their durability is questionable, too.
Even with their rotational nature, we missed each and every one of them last year.

We all will.
But let's review this stat line at the end of the year.
1,800 yards rushing allowed, 4.5 ypc & 48 sacks...with Buckner.
Without?

Those guys are role players. Buckner was a workhorse. You don't replace a workhorse's production with role players.
And they all have questionable durability as well.
