DeForest Buckner Traded to the Colts

Don't like that we're giving him up. I would have hoped for more than a 1st round pick. We picked him up with a 7th overall and we'll get what amounts to a 15th in return for a player that was very much worth the pick.
Trade talks started quietly around Super Bowl per Rapoport
A bit shocked but hell we got more than the Texans did for Hopkins. Wish we could have swung something there.

Not a bad idea moon... we need a major haul from 13.

Ugh. This one hurts.

it does

at the very least, we got 4 good years out of him. drafted him in the 1st round, and we not only saved some money by trading him, but we got a 1st round BACK. so think of it that way!
Defo hate to see u go ...

This was a major win today boys. Sucks losing a fan favorite and a good player. But it was a great move.

Only if we nail the 13th overall pick. If we whiff its a horrible move.

You can say that for every DT not named Donald. He's in a class of his own.

Whether you felt he was dominant or not his play definitely freed up others to get sacks. My concern now is how much this loss puts on Bosa carry so much of the load especially with Ford's durability in question.

If anything this changes things for Armstead. But Armstead was already better at beating double teams than Buckner.
No he wasn't.

Yep. In 2019 he was.

Wheres your proof of that?

If Armstead turns back into a pumpkin, and we whiff on 13th overall, we set ourselves up for a huge loss. We know for a fact Buckner is elite. We have no idea if Armstead is going to be a double digit sack guy again.
I'm so bummed right now. I don't even know what to say. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the conversation. I'm just floored. I care.

He doesn't need to be double digit sack guy, just eat blocks so Bosa and hopefully a healthy Ford can get the glory...

My concern as well. A couple of weeks ago I expressed this concern about AA. Did he truly emerge after 5 years of coaching up and maturity or did he merely benefit from the motivation of a contract year and Bosa and Defo taking pressure off of him? Seems very risky given how good the DL was with Defo and what they meant to the 49ers success. Oh boy.
This is a Patriots type of move only difference is they win superbowls so its easier to accept.
I don't understand this from the Colts standpoint. Don't they badly need a QB? They could have used that 13th overall pick to solve that problem.

As for the Niners I think when the shock wears off, people will come to realize this was the right move. And Niners will still have a good pass rush without Buckner but would they be able to stop the run at all without AA?
