Only if we nail the 13th overall pick. If we whiff its a horrible move.

it'x a s*t move either way. We need a front 4. Obviously, we send bumstead packing and extend defo. And we should have gotten more pix out of it. Plus we will waste #13 on a gadget player that shanny "loves" -- like pettis or hurd.

Rather trade 13 and 31 for 2 and draft Chase Young.

maybe that would work.
Thanks Defo!!!
Thanks for everything DeFo!!

Sure wasnt.
couldn't pay both AA and Buck, one had to go... AA had a big year, Defo ghosted a lot... just a business and Johnie is a quick study and using that 'Furd degree to make wise decisions... time will tell

Buckner's biggest hater... now all the sudden Buckner's biggest fan now that we traded him

You can be critical and still like a player. No player is perfect.

Btw i thought you had me blocked?
This is crazy ! Wow ! Go 49er !
Sad to see Buckner go, but he's not worth 21 million a season, and getting the 13th pick in the draft is huge in giving us back draft capital this season. If we really want to get a WR in this draft semi early, then I hope we trade back a few times with the 13th pick, and maybe even the 31st, to acquire multiple 2nd round picks, along with getting 3rd and 4th rounders this year as well.
Shanahan hit on Deebo in the 2nd, and we will see what Hurd brings to the table as a gadget type, personally I would avoid WR in this draft, and fill in our other needs.

It seems like only Niner fans think this is a bad trade for them. Almost everyone else around the league feels the Colts got the worst of this trade.

ummm... no one cares if we beat the colts on this trade. which we didn't.

defo was #4 i believe in being doubled. That's what oc's think.

Its one of those trades that depends on who we get at #13. If we get another All-Pro, we win. If we don't, they win.

There had to be a decision made between Buckner and Armstead. Couldn't keep both. Had to capitalize on the value of whomever they decided to let go. Getting a 1st rounder, which happens to be top 15 in one of the better classes, is HUGE. Armstead likely wouldn't have netted that return.

Buckner is the better player right now but Armstead is not that far behind. He has better pass rush moves and has more ceiling left. Buckner has probably tapped into all of his potential.

Not necessarily. We weren't going to be able to afford both Buckner and Armstead. Regardless of whether the pick received in the trade pans out/flops is inconsequential. The value received is always going to make this move a smart one.
