DeForest Buckner Traded to the Colts

Congrats, 49ers, you saved a whopping $4 MILLION avg yearly by keeping Arik Armstead over Deforest Buckner. $20m cap hits coming soon with 3 sacks a year for multiple years. BUt We CouLdN't AfForD tA kEep DeFo

I want to come clean and say I was wrong. I was wrong to try and to be even remotely positive about trading Buckner. He was one of my favorite players on the team. The dude was the first draft crush of mine that the team drafted. I was wrong to try to see things for what they weren't. Trading Buckner was a disastrous move. Arik Armstead is f**king TRASH, and Javon Kinlaw looks like he's going to need a f**k ton of work to ever scratch the level Defo was it. Yes, he is a better scheme fit against the run, but he can't hold Defo's jock as a pass rusher, which is ultimately what matters most. 49ers saved $4m avg yearly and lost one of the most durable and productive players they've drafted in decades.

Trade him and Jimmy to the Jets. Give them a 3rd round pick this year, and next year, and eat 5 mil on each contract. Boom

Buckner didn't so s**t lol

I watched a lot of games this year where he doesn't even pass the LOS vs one on one..

There are literally multiple clips of him winning one-on-one's, resetting the LOS, creating turnovers in that video.

I miss watching DeFo completely own interior OLmen with that arm-over move.

The worst part for IOL is they see it on tape and know it's coming but can't stop it.

Bosa made everyone better and got AA Paid

Buckner is decent, but wanting Donald money is crazy.

Bosa didnt line up next to AA, Buckner did. Beating the LT has little impact on what the RG/RT does. They arent helping on Bosa's side.

So why didn't AA explode until last year? Matter of fact, everyone did. The catalysts were Ford and Bosa. With that said, Buck was a huge loss and I wish the front office tried harder.

It is the greatness of Bosa and the speed of Ford that stretched out the OTs, which gives Armstead and Buckner more space to work with. I am talking about passing down.
Niners really f'd up sending Buckner packing so we could keep players like AA and Ward. Never liked the trade but tried to rationalize it thanks to the old "well sometimes you have to make tough decisions" line of thinking. You do have to make tough decisions thanks to the salary cap BUT you don't ship away the heart and soul of your D that is just hitting their prime. You do whatever it takes to lock them up and if that means tagging them, then you do it. Would much rather have Buckner and Aiyuk then AA, Ward, Kinlaw and Aiyuk smh

Buckner declined the offer, nothing more we can do but make the trade

a similar scenario is going to happen with Trent w soon
