It's not just the buckner thing.
It's sheldon day, mckinnon, kwon, dee ford, AA. The penny pinching supposed big splashes we have made have been absolutely terrible.

Don't get me wrong, Buck is a very good player. However, I don't see him as a franchise talent. Not instinctual enough and doesn't get enough pressure on QB. Look at some of the plays Kinlaw has made already, like dropping into coverage and grabbing an int. That wasn't drawn up, he felt that.
Back to back all pro years. Thats as good as it gets, minus a DPOY. Hes may not be Donald, but hes still one of the best DTs in the league.

I'm not going to argue different. Maybe it's just how I value the position. Clogging the line doesn't seem to be worth 20 million, even if you get occasional pressure. It's like being a really great guard, valuable, but you'll never be worth left tackle money.
imo, the only d line players that should get big money are ones that can constantly pressure the QB. Doesn't matter if you do it from the inside or outside. Great run blockers are good, but a lot of guys can do that so it's not worth that much.

Truth.
he has 29 sacks in the last 3 years. he's top 5 in most sacks by a DT in the last 3 years. he does more than clog the line lol.

I loved Buck here but I would've cringed paying him 20 mil when you have guys like Kittle and Warner to resign then now you have Trent. Had no problem drafting Kinlaw, just hoping he can become a stud

rather pay Buck 20 mil than AA's bum ass 17 mil. 3 mil is really gonna stop us from signing those guys?
