Correct. FA guards are overpaid, but having top talent at the position is still important.

With DL and OL addressed (assuming the FO believes in Trent Brown), frees up the rest of the draft to look at LB, CB, TE, and WR.

I love the player. I worry about the scheme fit.

we have a great o line coach and he was chosen for a reason.. maybe we are going to be more smash mouth than what some people think

Gap scheme at Standord like Harbaugh runs...Kelley runs an inside/outside zone.

Again, love the player. Let's hope he translates.

We ain't selecting a starter at 68 bro. We will likely get a QB day three to develop. This year it will be about putting together a team around Kap and Gabbert and if they both falter this year we get that QB next year if one's available.

Kiper hates the pick, actually. Keeps saying he was his #67 ranked pick. Everybody else seems to like the pick, though, that I've seen.

Just watched him say it was a good pick...guess I could have misheard, but in their wrap up...
Next pick is 68 so 37 picks to go unless we use 68 and other ammo like Kap, Bethea, Brooks and/or extra 5s and 6s to get back into the 2nd. Probably won't happen but I wouldn't count it out.

HOLY $#!T!!!! I am a die hard Stanford fan, and that video did it for me.

I like the pick, and not just because he's from my favorite college team.

We drafted arguably the best defensive lineman and arguably the best guard today.

People are criticizing what we gave up, but we swapped a 6th for a 7th, and our 2nd for their 1st. That said, we truly "only" gave up a 4th round pick for a player that can start day-1.

I love this move.

This.

Why don't we have a 2nd rounder anymore?

Do you really not understand the trade?
We will run the ball this year. We will run the ball well. Mike Davis might even look like a professional running back.

Actually happy 49ers are being aggressive they not going to keep the 12 picks might as well get the players you want. Its obvious these are Chip Kelley players not baalke

LOL wut. Baalke doesn't like long-armed, giant DL's and physical gritty linemen....are you new here?

This draft so far shows that Baalke and Kelly are very much on the same page.

I couldn't agree more. I LOVE this draft so far.

It's solid pick, Hawks would have been all over it

Then why did they trade? Oh, right, we gave them the rest of our draft.

We gave them a 4th rounder. BFD. We still have a comp 4th rounder.... and three picks in round 5

To get the best interior OL in the country last year ahead of Arizona and Seattle (who were both thinking OL) is worth it.

Why don't we have a 2nd rounder anymore?

We traded up from 37 (our 2nd rounder) to 28 (the Chiefs 1st rounder). The cost of those 9 spots in draft position was a 4th round pick (plus exchanging our 6th for the Chiefs 7th).

Ya I'm not understanding the we don't have a 2nd rd pick agruement. This is it.
