Yup!

Good moves by Trent.

2 starters and more picks to come

Anyone know which 6th round pick we gave up. We had 2 that were tradable.

Our highest 4th and highest 6th.... what bums me out about this move is it ruins the climax of the next 2 days as we will now not be picking in top 32 picks of either day. I liked Garnett, just didn't see the value with Whitehair still available and a guaranteed impact player of more overall value will fall to our original 2nd.

I'm very happy the addressed the lines! I though Whitehair might be a better match for Kelly but if he prefered Garnett...OK by me--he had his choice!

It's solid pick, Hawks would have been all over it

Then why did they trade? Oh, right, we gave them the rest of our draft.

Pathetic!

its cuz he is a x niner. x niners are always the victims of the evil front office. have you noticed that whenever we have a opening on our roster.. the clammer to bring back an x niner from soap to whitner to owens
When it popped up they traded up i was so curious. I thought maybe myles jack, robert nkemdichi or whatever, but lets be real - after all the bad knees and off field stuff the past 4 years I'm not surprised they are avoiding that at this point.

That being said I was watching NFL network and respect Mayock - he went from saying it makes no sense if not a QB to when he heard this kids name he actually shook his head like - OK these guys have a plan and seemed to understand and like the pick.

I know its boring, but shoring up the lines is the key this draft. Lets face it, the team is pretty bad right now and this year is going to be a rough even if things are looking up. If they infuse the lines and d with youth they are really setting themselves up for the long term. Next draft you can always go after the QB
Best guard and best DE in draft !!, stop with the sour grapes people!! give Baalke his due tonight!

sounds like we also screwed seattle who wanted him. that is a little extra gravy
People saying "he would have been there in the 2nd round." How the heck do they know? (They don't)

The 49ers wanted him, thought he might get picked before #37 and got him. Good for them.
This was a great pick

Two impact players and now we build depth and hope for a diamond in the rough.

Trust me, I am one of the harshest on our FO but this is a great start to this draft.

We needed to get tougher, and boy did we get tougher today!

The niners have spent a lot of 1st and 2nd round picks on interior lineman over the last decade, and didn't get much out of them: Rachel, Smiley, Baas, Iupati, Martin....

Iupati, Smiley and Baas were bad asses, just wanted too much $$ go play guard.

Staley, garnett, ?????, Brown, Davis.

That could be a mean line.

Zane is going to start left side period. He was all pro in zone blocking.
Baalke has plenty of ammunition to move up to take a player in the second round if he wants to. All things are open for the next rounds.

I have been a harsh critic of Baalke in the past, but he was aggressive tonight and got two players that should be starters next season. Thats a good thing. I have reservations about moving up for Garnett, but not Garnett the player. Or maybe Im just upset that Baalke didn't move up a few picks earlier and take Doctson. I actually like the players Baalke drafted tonight. Sounds weird to say. I really DGAF what these analysts say about Garnett. He is a beast run blocker and fills a major need.

Agree

We needed Baalke to be aggressive in this draft and so far ... he's answered the bell!
