Expecting to land 5 immediate starters in one draft is just not even in the realm of being realistic.

Agreed The Bucs were recently quoted as being a little suprised they got 4 starters last year and were an awful team with holes all over their roster.

Well we are almost half way there. We need starters. So if we have to make moves to get them so be it. Trenches. Done. Now what's next. Olb? Ilb? Wr

Well as a pacific north west guy. I want olb. Dude from penn at in 3 rd. Byron Marshall from Eugene in 4 th. CB and a tackle

Garnett is a terrific talent. Two issues for me on the negative side: Not sure we needed to move up to pick him up; and, we have a new LG in Zane Beadles who has never played RG. We have a new rookie OL who has never played RG. Can't play with two left guards, so I am not sure how this works.

I think it's pretty obvious that Beadles will go to LG and Garnett to RG. If Garnett or Brown flames out, then we weren't competing in 2016 anyways. But they can't be worse than Pears/Devey/Thomas.

Zane is slotted to play next to Staley (LG), it has already been discussed by the niners. So Garnett is slotted for RG. Not that it can't change, if they feel the niners are better suited to have Zane at right because of his experience.

Not bad.

Welcome Garnett! Please help us forget about our dips**t upper management. With that being said I DO THINK Trent is doing a good job so far in this draft, I seriously think Seattle would have scooped him up if we had not acted. Go Niners

I like the player, but I feel we were set with Beadles and Tiller as our starting guards. The real question mark is at center. MM is pretty clearly a bust and who knows if Kilgore will ever fully recover. Even if he does, it's not like he was proven over the long term, he only has 10 starts in his whole career.

Meanwhile Seattle fans think that the 49ers pulled the rug out from underneath them by taking Garnett who was a perfect fit for their scheme.

Yeah I like the pick but bucky was hating.

did you just say you liked a pick?

congrats.

Yup he was in my mock in the 2nd round.
im cool with both picks, hoped we could have kept the early 2nd also.

Maybe we can move back into the 2nd tomorrow

Is it just me, or does Garnett look a lot like Larry Allen on those pulling blocks?

The play he makes in this video at 1:09, hell yes he does.

I had a feeling we would draft Joshua Garnett when the reports came out that Chip Kelly spent a lot of time with him prior to the draft.

The only issue I have with the pick is that I don't think we needed to move up. We have no idea what ARI and SEA were really going to do with their picks.
And even if we had missed out on Garnett, there are some other potential starters available for the interior:

G - Cody Whitehair - Kansas St
G/C - Max Tuerk - Michigan St
G/C - Isaac Seumalo - Oregon St

I do like the fact that Baalke is willing to be aggressive in this draft though. That's a good thing going into Day 2 tomorrow.

Find a way to get Jason Spriggs who can step in as a RT from Day 1 or Noah Spence and Baalke can pimp walk out of the building and leave the rest of the picks to Gamble.

really surprised Jack wasn't the pick. His knee must look like confetti.

Not really, just that they don't know how long he can last- 4 years, six years, eight or 10? Pat was healthy coming out of college and lasted 8. He will get drafted in the second or the third. Possibly by the browns or titans who can take a chance with lots of high picks.
