"Big Josh" just didn't have the right attitude to make it.
If you think you are always going to just be a big fat guy, you have limited yourself to what you think you are.

Yeah the difference is availability. Garnett has been awful at that

Garnett looked BAD Thursday night. Releasing him this early in the day suggests the FO had zero interest from other teams in a trade.
May pick him back up after the other cuts if they can't find anything better on the waiver wire.

This franchise does not prioritize "availability" in the way these posts suggest.

His career is hanging by a thread. I can guarantee you that it won't sit well with decision makers around the league that he missed time with a finger injury when he knew he was fighting for a roster spot. It's also a bad look when Weston just played the whole season with a torn quad and you choose to have surgery on a dislocated finger. Football guys won't take kindly to stuff like that and will definitely question your heart/toughness.

I agree that he's injury prone. And not a starting caliber G. But doctors don't just make up reasons to get surgery. If surgery was his only viable option to repair the finger, that's the only time a doctor would recommend it. If the doctor says "this won't get any better without surgery"... what is he supposed to do?

Baalke continuing to look like one of the worst GMs in the league.

Tape that sh*t up and play. You think Garnett would be the only player in the NFL this offseason who put off surgery or rest just because the team doc recommended it? Players do it all the time and many do it with way worse injuries. There is a reason you hear about guys getting second and third opinions until they get the news they want to hear.
JG already had people questioning his toughness and ability to stay healthy and that was simply the final nail in the coffin.
It might sound cold, but I also called that Joe Williams was done for when he missed time to be with his family when an in-law passed. Stuff like that is overlooked when you are producing and have already solidified your spot on the roster, but not when you have tons of question marks surrounding you. Coaches want guys who eat, sleep and breathe football, or your talent level definitely better make up for not having that mindset.
