Watching that Clemson game, I really like the way he reads and doesn't over run plays. I think he's good pick for the Nickel and Dime formations.

yep i think this was a depth pick. We are going to need a good rotation on defense to keep guys fresh. My guess is we will be in the 4-3 scheme more often than 3-4
I was listening to the move the sticks podcast with Daniel Jeremiah. Daniel is an APPALACHIAN ST. alum who said he talked to one of the coaches there and they mentioned that he should become an ILB in the NFL if he cuts a bit of weight.

I think this is an intriguing idea. At his pro day, he did show off some coverage ability and his quickness could really help in the run game. However, that seems like a big transition not sure if he could get it done. His combine 40 was really slow as well but his pro day 40 puts him at 4.85 which is only a little slow.

4.85 at 276 is still pretty darn athletic. He only posted a low time at the combine due to a quad pull in the 40. I think he's best suited to play DE in the 280s. But if they really wanted him to be a 3-4 OLB or ILB, it's obviously not impossible for him to do that if he dropped about 15 pounds. At 265, I'd expect him to be a 4.7 guy.

He reminds me of Frank Clark, who the Hawks took last year in round 2, and have pretty high hopes for.

Same body type (6'2", 270) and balanced, attacking playing style at the line of scrimmage.
Blair could be an absolute steal!
He's better than Armstead all around...just shorter.
He seems like a repeat of the Aaron Lynch pick 2 years ago except with no red flags, meaning really damn good value.

I could have sworn I read that he didn't really have any pass rush moves at OLB other then a bullrush. I don't want to get too cute with the pick. No more tank Carradine experiments. Let the guy play d line.
Man, speaking of coverage..

why don't this scouts bring in a secondary when they wanna work out a QB? it's so easy to look pretty when you're throwing to someone who's not being covered.

I mean, don't get fancy with the coverage, just the simple read and react to the secondary and see if a kid can read defenses.
We get to thank the Charger's for taking Bosa and for Blaire.

Hell any player selected after the third a lot of people might not have heard of if they don't watch all the games on college football. Too many people subscribe to big schools only and look at only what Kiper and other non-football people put out. Hell before the internet, no one knew who shot up the board and why. All draft books were pre all star game and pre combine.

So just because you never heard of him doesn't mean the pick sucks...it means you don't know enough football. Charles Haley came from James Madison-and if anyone tells me they heard of him at the time, you are a liar.

He is not going to OLB, he is currently at 281, unlike tank, he is just 9 pounds away from 290, he has a better chance at DE. Tank was 272-275 out of college for him 20+ pounds was a lot. Why need so many DE? Because Arik and Buck will kick inside on passing downs. 3-4 on passing downs for the niners is such misnomer.

Because it makes too much sense....and the NFL hates that.
