why? why does this stuff have to be said?
The slower 3cones time is a bit of a flag. I guess fast but not quick

People like that have a better chance getting banned than Kap being traded or cut

Because some still hope Kaep gets traded or cut regardless of how much worse it would make the team..

Frankly, this guy will be lucky to even make the practice squad. I don't even understand the thought process of some people. Why would we dump Kaep or even Gabbert and roll with Thad and/or Driskell as backups? They would be an injury away from staring. That doesn't make any sense if you legit want what's best for the team.

I don't know that it's a 'big red flag' as its really not very important for a QB to be able to change direction. There's nothing about what a QB does that mimics the 3cone drill.

But the metric is right in this case, driskell is not a runner like Kap was. He takes a minute to get up to speed.

The good news is, unlike Kap, he can throw the ball with touch, and has a standard delivery. He's also a guy that says all the right things to the media. He has the Alex Smith quality of being generally likeable.

Agree.

I don't even think it has anything to do with Kap or Gabbert or Driskel more than it is the same mentality that somehow justified Nate Davis/JT OSullivan/Troy Smith as starters. Some fans are like teenage girls. They just "want something different" even if that's really a s**ttier option. It's the only explanation.

Anytime a QB goes in the 6th there's typically a pretty good reason for it. With Driskel I see him having better upside than the majority of QB's that end up in that spot, usually you have guys that are small school types that dominated on that level but can't transition, guys that have one particular outstanding trait such as speed or a cannon for an arm, injury prone QB's or game manager types with extreme limitations when it comes to arm strength or mobility. I don't see Driskel falling into any of those categories and I saw him as a better player than several QB's picked in front of him.

He's a guy who was just completely mismanaged and poorly coached at Florida. Its telling that since Tebow was drafted, no Florida QB has been drafted but three ex Florida QB's(Cam Newton, Jacoby Brissett, Jeff Driskel) have been.

The upside is there, he just needs to get the coaching that was sorely lacking for most of his college career, improving his ability to go through progressions and show improved awareness, running a much larger variety of plays. Considering where he was picked, if he turns out to be nothing more than a decent backup then that is a net positive for the 49ers.

Exactly, Jeff is either competing for the starters job or as the backup once Kap is gone.

Lol. You really want Jeff Driskel competing for a starting job?

That's alright, apparently you don't like the guy as a player. Hope your eating crow when he's starting one day. Don't be such a Debbie Downer. The kid has got a chance.

At this point Jeff Driskel is practice squad material with Kap and Blaine as QBs on the roster if he's any good

Every player on the team should have that mentality. Always complete. Practice as if you will be called upon to perform and start. Otherwise, take up space on some other team's roster.

It's madness.

But as I said, with 9er fans, the fanbase is always pining for the backup.
