But as I said, with 9er fans, the fanbase is always pining for the backup.

When you draft a kid with such high upside, you'd like him to compete for an open job. I doubt he'll be ready for game time this year or next. but after a little development, he could surprise some people in a year or two.

I think he'll make the 53 as a third string QB. The team will keep Rad Thad on speed dial in case there's an long term injury. I don't think it affects Kap's presence on the roster this year, and his status is up in the air next year regardless of Driskell.

A lot can change between now and two years from now though. Depending on where he is, and what the QB play has been like will determine if he's in competition for the starting spot.
I wouldn't put this kid on the practice squad, someone can take him. I really feel like this boy has a chance and could develop into something special in our system. If nothing else, make a good backup and like Phoenix said in the 6th round that's considered a positive
He's the guy I'm most excited to see in preseason for damn sure.

As we learned last season with Philly--Chip's offense in preseason puts up crazy numbers.
The next Cody Pickett.

That's 5 years ago. Today he's working to not be on the PS.

Maybe...maybe in another 5 we'll all be rocking these...

I'm liking this guy, looks like a real Chip Kelly pick. Can make a lot of throws from the pocket, he's athletic, and can throw on the run. Once he settles into the pro system, he might be dangerous.
There is no way this guy ends up on the practice squad. He will make the roster, but will not start this year. And that is a good thing. Next year, who knows. But he was drafted to groom. He will absolutely make the 53

lol. Kap was back up too once. such madness.

and yes, I want every player competing for the starting job.

it's too bad Kap didn't get traded, now we still have to read your unabashed Kap slurping for the foreseeable future.
