Probably in the thread already, but, QB gurus...how different is Driskel as a project than Paxton Lynch? They seem similar to me.
Driskel sounds very similar to Kaepernick. Same type of skillset, physical measurements, and flaws.

But far cheaper and not disgruntled. I hope he pans out.

Lynch is a hot dog. Driskel therefore eats pieces of s**t like Lynch for breakfast.

OK, now I understand.
Weaknesses Struggles to lead receivers with throws, forcing them to break stride or adjust to throws behind them limiting their yards after catch. Short arms passes when throwing on the move causing issues with under-thrown balls. Accuracy drops substantially on throws down the field, with overthrows robbing him of big plays despite receivers having a step on cornerbacks over the top. Anxious when pocket gets turbulent and will occasionally feel pressure that isn?t there.

NFL Comparison Drew Stanton

Sounds more like Kap lol

fastest 40 for a QB at the combine.
Driskell's issues appear to be coachable. This pick is almost all about system fit -- he matches Kelly's scheme to the T. With his size and athleticism, if he develops we could have quite a nice QB situation in the future.

The odds aren't great, but at this point in the draft, you're taking a shot on a guy with tools that hasn't put it all together and you think just needs some coaching. We'll see what happens. Excited to watch the competition in pre-season.
Don't know much about him. Seems as someone stated, a possible fit for Kelly's system. He's a 6th rounder, we'll see if he pans out. If not, not a huge loss. Still not sold on the QB position with anyone right now.

I think he has potential to be a starter, if not we have a nice backup.

He has better upside than the majority of QBs youre taking at that point in the draft. Most of the time its smaller school guys, weak armed passers, guys that are complete statues or have character issues.

Thad Lewis is our only hope
I am happy about getting Driskel. I hope that he develops into a good player for the team. The physical potential is there.

For people saying that he's going to be this or going to be that, you have no way of knowing. Just sit back and see what happens.

Lynch is taller, but Driskel isn't short - he's 6-4. Driskel is quicker and faster. They both have big arms. Driskel actually may be a better pocket guy at this point. Also, Driskel has a little quick release thing with his wrist that I haven't seen with Lynch. I like the pick. Little or no risk with great possible reward.

He compares himself to Alex Smith
Driskell is our Tom Brady!

In that he's drafted in the 6th round. We'll see what happens. Physical talent is there, we'll see where his head is at and how he gels with Chip Kelly and his offense. Look forward to seeing him in preseason but nobody should expect much at this point. I don't think he's going to keep us from drafting a QB early next year but it never hurts to have a project behind the scenes that could bear fruit later. Virtually 0 risk.
