But far cheaper and not disgruntled. I hope he pans out.

I'm not sure if there is any comparison. Driskel has that quick release and is very accurate on the short to intermediate throws. He also stands in the pocket and goes through progressions. He's quick fast as well as distance fast.

Question: other than height, what is the difference between Driskel and Paxton?

Probably in the thread already, but, QB gurus...how different is Driskel as a project than Paxton Lynch? They seem similar to me.

Lynch is taller, but Driskel isn't short - he's 6-4. Driskel is quicker and faster. They both have big arms. Driskel actually may be a better pocket guy at this point. Also, Driskel has a little quick release thing with his wrist that I haven't seen with Lynch. I like the pick. Little or no risk with great possible reward.

This is why I think we have the steal of the draft in terms of QB. Not sure these two are very far apart, if anything, Driskel seems to be a more pro-ready QB than Lynch.

Driskel has more in common with Gabbert IMO...including the same propensity for making ill-advised throws and being quick to checkdown.

In that he's drafted in the 6th round. We'll see what happens. Physical talent is there, we'll see where his head is at and how he gels with Chip Kelly and his offense. Look forward to seeing him in preseason but nobody should expect much at this point. I don't think he's going to keep us from drafting a QB early next year but it never hurts to have a project behind the scenes that could bear fruit later. Virtually 0 risk.

Well he thinks very highly of himself just like Brady did coming out of college. Hopefully he puts in the work to back up his talk.....

if this scrub sees any playing time, it means we're f**ked anyway.
I thought that he got a raw deal when he was at Florida.. but even when he was there, Driskel reminded me of Jay Cutler.

Yeah, it seems that whenever a QB is labeled as athletic, Kap is automatically compared to that QB by some but totally discounting the specifics of that athleticism and how it relates to playing QB.

Driskel seems like a clone of Gabbert.
Question, where would he be drafted if he had 4 years at LATech?
Driskel is not even on my radar. The chances of a 6th round QB turning into anything is so minimal, it makes me wonder why NFL teams waste draft picks by taking QBs late.

I don't think he is that much different than Paxton Lynch.

I admittedly know nothing about Driskell, but I do know that almost zero QBs drafted that late ever amount to anything. That's all I am saying.

I just think the fact that he went from a crap system for 3 years to a more passer friendly system and improved exponentially says a lot about his mental strength and belief in himself. The talent is there. The major plus is his ability to stand in the pocket and make last second throws and his efficiency under pressure.
A lot of similarities to Alex Smith in terms of experience:

Just a few days after Jeff Driskel made his Louisiana Tech debut with a career-high five touchdowns, Bulldogs coach Skip Holtz opened up Tuesday night during his radio show about his new quarterback, which included Driskel's recruitment and his time at Florida.

Holtz, who has spoken highly of Driskel since he landed on Tech's campus in March, delivered his strongest words Tuesday, noting the "difficult situation Driskel experienced at Florida.

"I think down at Florida, it got very toxic for him. He became the scapegoat," Holtz said. "He became the guy that was tied to losing at Florida as a fan base that does not take very well to losing. It really became a negative situation, which is unfortunate because he's such a great Christian young man with such great values who is a leader.

"If you ever have a chance to sit down and talk with him, he's almost too good to be true. He's exactly the way you'd want to raise your son. I'm really proud of him and really happy for him that he was able to go out, play that way. Our fan base was able to embrace him the way that they did."

Tech's fan base hardly had anything to complain about after this past Saturday's 62-15 win over Southern where Driskel threw for 247 yards and four touchdowns and added a score on the ground. He continued his hot start Thursday, totaling 412 yards and three scores in a loss to Western Kentucky.

Driskel started as a sophomore and led the Gators offense during their 11-2 season in 2012. Then, in 2013, he was injured in the third game and missed the rest of the season as Florida went 4-8. He came back for the 2014 campaign, but lost his starting job midway through the year due to poor play.

LOL, he got benched for having one of his better years in terms of stats. 68.9% 135 rating.

Brady
Romo

and probably some others who turned out pretty good. Also you gotta have back ups.
