When this guy was at Florida, really, he reminded me of Jay Cutler..

If Florida just played a semi conventional offense, Muschamp would still be there and Driskel would have been drafted in the 3rd round or higher last year. IF he stayed.
He is a mobile pocket QB with every tool in the book, including foot speed, but he spent the majority of his college career in a scheme that absolutely did not fit him. Once he got away from that and played in a system more transferable to the NFL, you saw the noticeable difference.
Good developmental pick that could push for a job as early as this time next year if it has not been cemented.

The best quarterback taken in this NFL Draft won't be either of tonight's two top picks — Jared Goff or Carson Wentz; it'll be one of two Central Florida products — Paxton Lynch or Jeff Driskel.
In fact, I'll go on record right now as saying Driskel, the Hagerty High product who languished for four years in abysmal offenses at UF before finding success at Louisiana Tech, will turn into the most prolific quarterback in this draft.
Why? Because former UF coach Will Muschamp told me once that he brought in two offensive-minded NFL head-coaching types — Mike Shanahan and Mike Mularkey — to look at Driskel and both said he was a surefire NFL starting quarterback. You can take that for what it's worth; just like you can take everything you hear tonight during the NFL Draft not only with a grain of salt but with an entire shaker of it.

QB Jeff Driskel, Louisiana Tech
I think Driskel helped himself tremendously in his season at Louisiana Tech after transferring from Florida, where he was asked to run a lot. He has size (6-foot-4, 234 pounds) and athleticism. He's an easy thrower who has good feet and balance on his drop. He looked like a comfortable pocket quarterback who stayed poised in the face of pressure, and also can run the boot-action pass game effectively. He needs experience and reps, but he's an intriguing day-three prospect because of his traits.

It's gonna take time regardless. I'd sit him 2 years at least.

he'll most likely sit behind kap or gabbs but who knows, maybe he owns them both in camp like willow did for seattle. i think were due for a little luck at qb.

Driskel actually fits in better with Denver than Paxton Lynch IMO. But hey, screw Denver I'm stoked that the 49ers grabbed him!!! One of the QB's I had hoped for.!!!

Love this pick. May turn out to be nothing, but it's like drafting Hackenburg in a reasonable round — top recruit that's flashed between struggles and has the tools and intangibles to be good if given time to develop in the right situation. Looks the part of a franchise QB and has exciting physical/athletic traits as well — like him more than Adams, although I'd be down to see them both brought in to battle for the 3rd spot
