At least he measures better than previous pipe dreams. Does someone know all the other backup QBs that we thought may have something in the last 10 years?

Troy Smith - damaged good
Nate Davis - too small
Scott Tolzien - no "it" factor
David Carr - damaged goods
Trent Dilfer - mediocre
Shaun Hill - great character, but noodle arm
JTO Sullivan - pick machine
Cody Pickett - can't remember
Ken Dorsey - noodle arm?

Has the size, big arm, and speed. Will it translate to the NFL? One can only hope...

I'm eager to find out what we have in Jeff Driskel regardless.

I'm hoping he turns out to be something, but it's better to know if he's more of the same or if we may actually have something here.

Until we have a franchise QB, I believe everyone on this board will have some hope for any backup QB. I am right there with ya! Hope dies last!
SJ7, that is quite a list. Zowie. Thank God it is in the past. Onward and upwards.

I maybe saw one series of Driskell all yr...so really would like to see him get some snaps in TC and PS.

If Driskel keeps coming along,he might have a shoot sooner rather than later, possibility of entering starter discussions next year if Kaep/Gabbert show they're not long term.

Call me crazy call me a fool but i am calling it right now Driskel will become our version of Tom Brady fellas N finally the Niner Empire will rise bcuz of this future legend. I just have this gut feeling the game wont be to big for him to handle he will adjust to this game quickly it also helps that Chips offense is a QB friendly offense.

Nate Davis wasn't too small, he was dyslexic and couldn't pick up a Singletary playbook.

He'll be a practice squad player for 2 years then cut/released. Book it.

Pump the brakes man. We haven't even seen him in preseason action yet let alone a real NFL game. Kid has the physical tools but to be Tom Brady requires something special which he didn't show in college but if he's even half the player of Brady he'll be a steal.

Guy has to be the most hyped 6th round pick I've ever seen.
Remember...for the first time ever, Trent had a guy at his elbow who really knows O side of the football, talentwise. Before it was mostly Trent with some harbaw, but now , we have a sharp D talent picker plus a sharp O talent picker. Granted picking 6th and getting a guy like 7th rounder Brady....well that happens once ever 3 or 4 decades, if that. So odds wise, pretty slim that Driskell is the guy... But if so, man would I love it.
