THE GOOD

1. QB Jeff Driskel. Completed 8-of-11 passed during team drills, including a deep pass down the seam to tight end Blake Bell. Driskel often looks terrific during practice, but during Sunday's preseason game he seemed overwhelmed by the speed of the NFL. He will need to time adjust.

That's nice to hear. He looked like hot garbage on Sunday.

So did the guy on the not so good list who is still not looking good
Let's just roll with Driskel this year. He can't be any worse than Gabbert and we can try and develop. Can definitely run.
People are pretty damn harsh here. He looked terrible but it's his first NFL game. If he looks this bad next season then we should start worrying. For now, just be a little patient with him.

The odds that he ever develops into anything worthwhile are slim to none. Late round QBs just have a terrible success rate. He's worth holding on to in order to see if he can improve his passing ability, he certainly has some nice tools but I don't think anyone should be holding their breath waiting. Historically the odds suggest that he'll be out of the league in 2-3 years.

I still like the Driskel pick, but man his first showing was frickin depressing. With 4,000 passing yards in college I thought he would look a little bit better than what he just showed.

This is why I want a pocket QB.

Dak Prescott did just fine.

Sure, only he's not with the 49ers.

Like I said in the Watson thread, if they wanted a QB like that they should've just taken Dak Presscott. From what Presscott showed, I think he's a much better passer than Watson.

(did not mean to hijack the thread, mah bad)

He's a 6th round pick playing with 3rd stringer. Give the man a break and let's see what he can do.

Besides, he's most likely a PS candidate anyway

You don't think if Chip really thought Dak was a franchise guy we woulda done what we had to do to get him. Y'all acting like he went in the 2nd round or somen and we didn't wanna pay that price tag.
This is why the Ponder signing threw me off

What threw you off? You need a guy that can eat up some snaps in practice and preseason games, someone that is experienced, pick up the basics of the offense quickly and comes with good athleticism.

Ponder fits the bill.
Seems like rookie QBs either play like crap in their first preseason game or look great.

I just want to see improvement from him during camp/preseason and I think we'll be in good shape with him.
I am a big fan of Driskel! I think he has tons of potential and could be our QB going foward given the chance.

I never wish bad things to happen to players, but I am glad he is getting better and more reps now. I hope he lights it up today and throws a wrench into the QB position. I would rather Driskel start than kap or Gabbert because we all know neither of those guys are the future.

Go Driskel today!

Well obviously teams didn't have them rated as a 2nd or 3rd pick or maybe they did but surprise players fell to them and went with that. I do think if Prescott didn't get himself into off season trouble like that he may have been drafted by Baalke, who knows??
