Not sure I've seen a team like the 2009 & 2010 49ers get held back by such horrendous coaching. A mediocre coach would've had them in the playoffs EASILY

I remember thinking he was way in over his head when he wore a stop watch in-game on the sidelines for whatever reason

Seemed like an odd number of games over 2 years for such a bad team. Most HS play 9-10 game seasons.
I checked it out. Looks like he won his first game there and then lost 21 games in a row. lol

What kind of league lets teams that are 1-9 and 0-10 play in playoff games? lol
weird

Honestly, I think our turn-around under Harbaugh had more to do with Singletary sucking with good talent than Harbaugh being a great coach.

True, but keep in mind Harbaugh took over a team without benefit of a training camp and missed getting to a Super Bowl by two giveaways.

Sing was awful at Xs and Os, game planing, time management, practices, almost every aspect of being a good coach. But I do give him credit for turning some of our boys into men. Especially VD. VD was basically a bust until Sing straightened him out. I give Sing a lot of credit for helping turn VD's career around.
Same with the defense. There was talent there, but there wasn't a lot of toughness outside of a couple of players. He made JH's transition easy.

Agreed 100%.
Halfway through the 2014 debacle of a season, I looked back and said "our window really started in 2009" in hindsight.

It did, which is why it sucked that Harbaugh came in during 2011 instead of 2009. By 2014, people were either injured or rapidly aging out.
They started their rebuild in 2005, by 2008 they should have been ready to at least compete for a playoff spot. Fortunately with Shanahan they now have the same guy for the rebuild and the ascension.

Singletary is the perfect example of the Peter principle. (people will rise to their level of incompetence) Great player, a good LB coach and a bad HC. He got worse the higher he went.

Great to spend time with Mike Singletary while going to Texas. He's one of the greatest football players ever — A strong man and a really good person. Great being with you Mike! pic.twitter.com/lWsYn4lhOm
