Last QB in the first round, so far easily the best QB from that draft.

Keep on going Lamar
Last week on sports radio, ESPN guys were all trashing LJ that he would not be able to handle the Patriot's D.

I work with disabled veterans and I see his grandpa, Lonzie, almost every day. Super chill guy that yells "what's going on easy money!" To everyone lol
When Lamar was drafted, he asked me if I watched football. I said yeah. And he asked what I knew about the ravens. I thought him being in a housing, he wasn't able to keep up with his team or anything. So I filled him in on Lamar and he goes "yep that's my grandson. Never seen him play before." And I went from woaaaah to awww
Said Lamar is having a mansion built for his mom in sac. And lonzie said he himself played for the cowboys back in the day a little. Couldn't find him when I searched him, but his name might be under like Alonzo or something and I haven't checked too hard. He said he was a bench warmer lol
Trippy though. Also see Dante Stallworth's dad all the time. Small world

Is he the next Vick or Kap or will he go beyond? Running quarterbacks always get hurt and he is definitely a runner.

Better passer than either of them and only improving further.

Not sure he's a better passer than Vick. They both had about the same completion rate in college 56% for Vick and 57% for Jackson. Jackson's is a little better in the NFL but Vick played in a system and era where the ball was thrown downfield more instead of the short passing we see so much today. I think Vick and Jackson are very comparable because they both run really well, run too much and needed to improve their passing. Hopefully Jackson won't end up getting hurt lie so many running QB's. Even without serious injury, running the ball too much can shorten your career.

I don't think he's a better passer than Kap. Better runner for sure.

Athletically, Vick is probably the best comparison.
But the thing that sets Lamar apart has been his ability to learn and improve.

Are we really discussing completion rate when Vick played in a straight up basic spread offense and Jackson showed continual improvement in an offense with a lot of pro style concepts? Jackson as a sophomore was probably on the same level as college Vick. Jackson as a junior showed almost unreal improvement as a passer and in his comfort in playing from the pocket.
The divide started there and has only grown wider as Jackson seems hellbent on getting better and better as a passer. Its something that was lacking from both Vick and Kaepernick. They were just a couple dudes that were happy to run around and play backyard football. Jackson could very well be the evolution of the "running QB."

I used to work with Dante Stallworth's uncle when I worked in Elk Grove.
I had no idea Lamar has family in Sac. I know there is a Lamar Jackson at Nebraska who is from Sac though.

As I said in the Harbaughs thread, he is going to have to learn to protect himself if he wants to survive more than a couple of seasons in the NFL. Particularly running up the gut. Physically he does not look like another Russell Wilson.

If we don't get Watson this year, I hope we can get this guy next year!!!!!
I like the way this guy thinks. Carlos Hyde needs some competition in the backfield.
The funny thing is, he just won the heisman as a QB! Just imagine his growth potential for next year and his years in the NFL?
So did Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel among many great college football players who didn't amount to anything in the NFL
Neither of those guys are as dynamic as Jackson! I liked Manziel, but he loved drugs more than football and everyone knew that except the Cleveland Browns.
The Jesus freak was never a true QB, but if you look at Jackson's abilities to throw and run he is going to be great! Not to mention he is very smart so he can learn a lot from a good QB coach. Tebow couldn't throw the football, and wouldn't work on his technique.
Jackson doesn't have those problems.

i would take Rosen over Jackson anyday. Rosen reminds be alot of Matt Ryan. Chances are that Rosen will be very underrated given that he doesnt have alot of talent around him. UCLA sucks at recruiting offensive weapons.
I would be fine with accumulating alot of picks for next year to ensure our ability to move up if need be. This draft we can concentrate on rebuilding the defense and possibly getting Rosen some weapons, like Williams or Davis
I saw Rosen play in High School a few times, great kid with some serious talent!
This is funny stuff! Look at all of us, armchair QB's.
I was right about Jackson but look at my post about Rosen, yikes!
Sometimes it's good to laugh at yourself...
