What would be the ideal completion percentage for a spread QB?

I look at guys like Falk and Trubisky ... high completion percentage. If either of them shows an ability to read the defense then you have to take that guy all day over the raw athletic talent.

Without question you take whomever is a better passer not who can run a 4.4 40

You'd expect a QB in that offense to be completing 62, 63% of their passes at minimum.

The number of QB's who have never once completed 60% of their passes in any season in college and still had success in the NFL is really tiny. Michael Vick never completed higher than 57% in college and his NFL career average is 56%. He was never able to consistently beat teams from the pocket in his NFL career which really limited him ultimately.

The difference is Kizer had a down year after losing a crapload of talent from his team. He's still never going to be a super accurate passer but he did look a lot more comfortable from the pocket than Jackson has looked.

His freshman year he threw for 2000 yards and 54% completion. Soph is 3400 yards and 58% completion. It's a huge jump in production. He's developing.

And Kizer lost a crap load of talent but Jackson doesn't have any to begin with. Lol. He IS Louisville.

lol...58% still isnt anything to get excited about.

Andrew Luck, Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Aaron Rodgers, Big Ben among others all completed over 60% of their passes every single year in college.

Phillip Rivers went from 54% as a freshman to 65% as a sophomore.

Jackson is only 19 so he has time to improve but he is going to have to put some major work in.

Jackson will always get the urge to bail from the pocket rather than stay in it to make him a more complete QB.

PASS!!!!

The other difference is Kizer's completion percentage includes a joke of a football game in the Carolinas during a hurricane. Take out that game (completely reasonable given he's never going to have to play in conditions close to that in the NFL) and Kizer's completion percentage was 60.6% (203/335) and 8.6 yards per attempt with 26 TDs and 8 interceptions which are better numbers for him than last year.

Still not amazing numbers, but as others have mentioned he didn't have much talent at WR this year and the offensive line got worse. He's also going to be drafted based on his physical tools as much as anything. I'm still rooting for us to draft Garrett (wishful thinking) and trade up for Kizer in the late teens/early 20s. Wouldn't shock me if a team like the Cardinals take Kizer earlier than that since he has better physical tools than anyone else this year.

Kizer is built like an NFL qb and will have the better NFL career out of these 2 imo. Jackson is electric and exciting as hell but he will get destroyed at the next level, he needs to hit the jugs machine and start running his route tree

Not a accurate passer been struggling also has to do with his bad footwork

Hard to call him a QB at this point. Dude looks like the second coming of Michael Vick, a guy who will run all over the NFL for a few years and then struggle mightily once teams force him to start beating them from the pocket.
