Well...Kirk Cousins was THE guy he wanted to run his offense here. Kyle has seen what Cousins was capable of doing on a mediocre to poor Redskins team and wanted him as his long-term QB. That should inform us.

Shanahan drafted Beathard, brought in Hoyer and passed on Mahomes and Watson.

Love his playcalling, not his eye for qb talent. He lucked out with Jimmy G.

Let's keep things in context:

He drafted Beathard as a long-term backup for Cousins, not as the future FQB.

He brought in Hoyer to teach the offense to a bunch of guys who had never run it at all, not to be the long-term starter.

As to Mahomes and Watson, Kyle was convinced Cousins was coming to SF so why draft an unproven rookie?

He did not "luck out" with Garappolo. Belichick made Lynch a deal he couldn't refuse in the face of the outside chance that Cousins would not come to SF for whatever reason.

I'm staying with Kyle's opinion.

Cousins would have been a disaster here. He is above average but not good against good teams.

Kyle or John made a great decision to go with unproven JG over the established and older Cousins. Big prpps for that!

You don't know how Cousins would have done here under Kyle's direction and in his system. For that matter, neither do I. What I do know is that Kyle BELIEVED he would do well here otherwise he would not have been seeking to bring him here.

In Kyle we trust.

I trust Kyle saw what Cousins had become as a qb and decided an unproven JG was a much better option.

From what we know about the events surrounding the trade for Garoppolo, Kyle was handed a fait accompli. Reports indicate Kyle reluctantly accepted the trade because Cousins' signing with SF was not a sure thing. That is what we know from reports. You can hold your own opinion but that is what it is...opinion.

If he was disappointed that casts doubts on his abilities to spot talent because JG >>>>>>>> Cousins. I am hoping Kyle saw that.

Perhaps "disappointed" might be too strong a word, but it was clear Kyle was going to be fine with Cousins if that was the way it broke. As to whether or not Kyle is a good judge of talent, I'll let Phoenix's post about picking talent suffice for my comment.

As for me, I'm fine with JG.

Could have had him if he wanted him but wisely chose the unproven Jimmy G. I have to say that does show a good judgement.

We got the right guy. A home run trade for sure. I am more than fine with JG.

Your timeline is all messed up though. Yes, we are all more than fine with JG. But Kyle didnt have a chance to choose one or the other. One (JG) became available before the other (KC), and Kyle pounced.

All of your posts make it sound like Kyle had the option to choose one or the other and he chose Jimmy. That isnt what happened.
