Perhaps "disappointed" might be too strong a word, but it was clear Kyle was going to be fine with Cousins if that was the way it broke. As to whether or not Kyle is a good judge of talent, I'll let Phoenix's post about picking talent suffice for my comment.

As for me, I'm fine with JG.

Could have had him if he wanted him but wisely chose the unproven Jimmy G. I have to say that does show a good judgement.

We got the right guy. A home run trade for sure. I am more than fine with JG.

Your timeline is all messed up though. Yes, we are all more than fine with JG. But Kyle didnt have a chance to choose one or the other. One (JG) became available before the other (KC), and Kyle pounced.

All of your posts make it sound like Kyle had the option to choose one or the other and he chose Jimmy. That isnt what happened.

Of course he could have waited for Cousins. People cite waiting for Cousins as an excuse for passing on Mahomes.
He chose Jimmy G, closing the door on Cousins because he realized JG was better.
The opening lines from Matt Maiocco's newest article:

Coach Kyle Shanahan wanted a known commodity for the 49ers' most-important position.

He wanted Kirk Cousins, and he was willing to wait a year in order to get him.

Then, Jimmy Garoppolo happened.

Yes, someone much better came along.

Baffles me that you are still missing the point here.

The point is that Cousins would have been a mistake. Choosing JG and forgetting about Cousins was the wise move.
JG, Watson and Mahomes were all better options.
Cousins is still a joke.
nothing you can do when you can't run the ball and you get pressured on literally half your drop backs.

This
I guess that settles it

This. Put Garoppolo against the 49ers pass rush with Ford and he gets eaten up. This is a historically good front four when everyone is healthy.

Glad to see Cousins get smashed and the 49ers win big but he never really had a chance. He was pressured on nearly 50% of his dropbacks, that is an insane stat.

To be fair, Garoppolo struggled a bit against the viking's DL when in long situations because of the pressure they can create. Our defense kept Cousins in that position all day long. I am super happy with Garoppolo but there's no reason to trash Cousins...other than the fact that he isn't a 9er.

This is the best 49ers defense I have seen since the 90s. Our defense with Smith, Willis and Bowman, as great as it was, wasn't on this level.

Couldnt imagine watching OUR team have a dominant defensive game and coming away with the opinion that Kirk was the problem for the Vikings.
As expected.
